One of the many things I enjoyed about my job: We were left alone to do it. A fifty page report would go straight to the client. The only advice I recall from my first boss was, “Don’t give them ropes to beat us.”
It’s worse when a micromanaging boss criticizes how you dot your i’s. That means your boss doesn’t have enough work to do, so they spend their time being nitpicky with their employees about every. little. thing.
Sometimes when I want to emphasize the importance of paying attention to detail, I tell people to make sure they dot their t’s and cross their i’s. Helps you find out who’s really listening.

Hair-splitting Rancid.

With his brain, micromanaging is all that Rancid can do.

If Thornapple had a cup of tea, Vebblefester would make sure that he crossed it,

My real name has two "i"s (as does my GoComics name). My signature is a total scribble, and yet, the two "i"s are dotted.

Brutus is left-handed. I wonder which hand such persons use with toilet paper.

Obviously it would seem. He must have been beaten an awful lot as a child. He’s his own wordt enemy. Got to feel sorry for him…..

Almost finished, but we still have to dot the i’s and cross the t’s and slash the zeros and boot the ones. (Military Air Force)

I hate micromanagers!!!

Brutus didn’t dot an “i”!? Why, that’s practically sacrilege. Bossman’s micromanaging is the least of Brutus’ problems.

To make it worse, the skinflint Rancid will dock his pay for that egregious omission.

Just tell him it’s a rough draft, you dot the ’i’s and cross the ’t’s when you’re done.

“Veeblefester is bored” Brutus goes on, “I better watch my step today”…
