Brutus’ hopes of having taxable income after the standard deduction are dashed again.

Time to to seek employment elsewhere.

Brutus, Veeblefester couldn’t make it without you. You should get that raise just for putting up with the miserly curmudgeon.

Actually, Brutus, that’s not a bad idea. A higher bracket might erase any gains from the raise.

Quite a while back I had to make the decision whether to take the pay rise that would mean I couldn’t get paid overtime anymore or to take the rise and hope I could push through quickly to the point where losing out on the overtime didn’t matter anymore. I went for the latter and kept my fingers crossed

so does that mean the raise would’ve effected his tax as well as more money he gets paid with… :\

Back in the 80’s I was offered a move by my company, but I had to pay for the moving expense. My boss offered the observation that it would have been taxable if they had reimbursed me anything.

And here all along I thought the Boss was heartless!
