    In point of fact, many slave owners paid their slaves to have their teeth pulled and implanted in the their owners’ mouths. Washington did that. Sometimes the implants worked. Sometimes they didn’t.

    Washington’s teeth were made of animal and human teeth. They were also spring loaded, so they would push his jaw open unless he clamped down. Which is why he always looked like he was angry (look at his face on the $1 U.S. bill). You can see his teeth, and other memorabilia (including the lancet that killed him), in the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Virginia.
