I saw a language phrase book once – you know the type that provides stock phrases that might help you out when abroad. The one that made me laugh, wondering when anyone would actually need to use it, was for “Shall I change into second gear now”

He could burn out a clutch that way…

I once wound my 400 cc two stroke Yamaha RD 400C, out to 7000 rpm in first gear, 45 mph. Sounded like Eddie. (I was between a Mustang and a Camaro who wanted to race each other and I was concerned they might fishtail together and squash me. I don’t recommend street racing.)

I’m still in compound low. At least judging by my estimation of effort and others’ estimation of progress.

I would think they would prefer him to be in idle.

It’s great to be six. You can scream like a banshee, run through the house like your hair is on fire, and no one bats an eyelash.

Oh to have that kind of energy again.
