How about the next iteration… Man-Ant! An ant bites a radioactive human and loses its power to lift 50 times its weight, can no longer communicate through its antennae, can no longer follow ant trails, wants to do nothing but lie on a sofa all day, and is swiftly murdered by the other ants in the colony.

Had an aunt like that, a strictly by-the-book type. Strangely, her twin sister was the exact opposite and a lot more fun to hang with. May be because they were fraternal rather than identical twins.

My mother’s sister was in the health care business. I called her Auntie Biotic.

Too bad Disney treats its digital effects employees and consultants like crap; otherwise, the film would’ve looked better.

“The Ancient Candy of Odd Flavors” makes me think of the Disgusting English Candy Drill in Gravity’s Rainbow<.i>:

“Under its tamarind glaze, the Mills bomb turns out to be luscious pepsin-flavored nougat, chock-full of tangy candied cubeb berries, and a chewy camphor-gum center. It is unspeakably awful. Slothrop’s head begins to reel with camphor fumes, his eyes are running, his tongue’s a hopeless holocaust. Cubeb? He used to smoke that stuff. ‘Poisoned…’ he is able to croak.

“‘Show a little backbone,’ advises Mrs. Quoad.”

(Mrs. Quoad is not precisely Darlene’s aunt, but she might as well be. She also suffers from “a series of antiquated diseases—greensickness, tetter, kibes, purples, imposthumes and almonds in the ears, most recently a touch of scurvy” – also an aunt-like quality.)

I love TtDB. But Aunt-Man doesn’t warrant this much exploration.

I’ve become very bored with Marvel movies. But “Auntman” is something that I might watch.

Anyone wishing to understand the true magnitude of Aunts’ potential mailgn influence must read P.G. Wodehouse, particularly “The Mating Season” (published in America, I believe, as “Jeeves in Springtime”).
