Way back in 1950s Ohio, my sixth grade teacher asked us, “What was the Civil War all about?” Somebody (not me) raised their hand and said what we all thought was obviously the answer: “Slavery.” You can imagine our astonishment, confusion and dumbfounded silence when Miss X stood there with her bare face hanging out and firmly stated, “No. It was fought over states’ rights.” That is all I remember hearing in grade school about the U.S. Civil War. It was eye-opening for me. Up until then, I had blithely and childishly relied on teachers for truth and good sense.
Don’t reduce Europeans to a monolithic slab. There are 45 European countries, and if you would dare to suggest to Spanish Basques that their values are identical to those in Madrid, you’d have a fight on your hands. That’s just one example of reginal diversity. Also, don’t reduce Europeans to Whiteness. Again, it’s all about regional diversity, and it will incite even more fights.
But if you tear down statues of traitors to america, then something-something history repeat itself! After all, such statues have been up for decades (centuries? I dunno, I’m not looking it up), and that’s why there hasn’t been any racism to date!
Of course, as a socialist leftist soyboy myself, I want statues of the founding fascists to go down too, but I’ll take what I can get. Kill all statues.
Erase the past and you are destined to repeat it. But left-wing logic is usually non existent. So erase-away to feel better about yourselves, space cadets. I’ll be gone when the apes take over……
Then there is the question of why so many military forts and camps were named after Confederate generals. How did that ever happen? That makes no sense at all.
There’s an interesting letter to the Washington Post regretting the melting-down of the statue of Lee—not on any political grounds, but on artistic ones. https://Wapo.St/3QzLJtb (bypasses paywall; includes link to original article)
Be as heinous as you want, lie about what you did, complain when the world gets all screwed up, but it’s OK because Jesus forgives sins if we toss a few bucks when they pass the hat and we all go to heaven.
As a person descended from Charles Lee, younger brother of Richard Lee II, great-great-grandfather of Robert E. Lee, I approve of tearing down the statues of men who supported enslaving humans.

Every other country did away with slavery without a war. We had one because of regional hatred .Slavery was just an excuse.

I didn’t want to laugh at this cartooon, but it IS fun to force racists to tell the truth about themselves.

Fortunately there’s not a statue of limitations.

Remember which circle of the Inferno Dante reserved for traitors. Trump is on his way there, too, of course.

Yeah, let’s commemorate those brave men who killed a bunch of other people so slavery would continue.
I never have understood that position.

Nice try Mr. Bolling, but these same people want to tear down statues of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln.
