Good going, Brian. Both an interesting history lesson AND just more proof that the current occupant, Individual #1, has NO CLUE as to what he’s babbling about!
A note to Mr. Carroll; I truly did NOT need to be reminded of how Donnie John’s “mind” works. I see the results of his “mental gymnastics” on the news every day in the form of human disasters at the southern border and the ever-present corruption and criminality extant in the town named for our first president.
Donald John Trump is presiding over the dissolution of our republic, and, evidently, the republicans are more than willing to assist in its destruction. Evidently, Representative Devin Nunes will be meeting privately with the head Trump Toady in the Department of “Justice”, Attorney General William Barr. I have to assume the meeting is so they can compare and so synchronize the various conspiracy theories they both plan to pursue in connection with the reelection of Donnie John.
A silver lining, of sorts, is that the sharp commentary that pervades Mr. Carroll’s editorial cartoons will not come under immediate attack because, for the most part, satire requires intelligence to be understood. And, let’s face it, these editorials are just too “cerebral” for the average right-winger to comprehend!
While this is clearly pointing at tRump, let’s not forget the previous Republican Pres. W broke all of the norms for ship names by naming two aircraft carriers after living men: R. Reagan, and his dad. I believe that he did this so he name one (almost) for himself.
Let’s not forget that Democrats are prone to the same temptation. We now have, thanks to his son Governor Andrew, the Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge where the Tappan Zee Bridge used to cross the Hudson River.
I read somewhere that the British sailors combined their daily ration of grog with their daily ration of lime juice and a little sugar, thus creating a popular cocktail.

People in Britain are more aware of Admiral Vernon than we rebels.

Well, Old George did get his name on an entire city. Hmmm. I hope that doesn’t give the Current Occupant any ideas.

Why didn’t he name it Trump?

Fake cartoon! We all know that grog was named after a caveman, and since cavemen preceded vice-admirals…….

Jefferson without a glass of wine? Something’s not right here. Sure, he’s got his grog, but really!

What a portmanteau of history!
So, is Washington’s home a creek or a mount? They’re kind of mutually exclusive.

I think it was an episode of “Fridays” (Saturday Night Live, but on Friday) where they had a fake Irene Cara singing:
“FAME! I sing this song forever, and no one remembers my name!”
