I was in trouble for saying supercalifragilisticexpialadocious beause it was not a real word. So Mom taught me to say antidisestablishmentarianism.

When I’m feeling down, I always think of Mary Poppins and start singing … Supercali … um … Souporcale … er … Soopacalley … oh, you know what I mean.

I had a very nice grilled cheese a few days ago. Used Havarti Jalapeño – thick sliced, by Boar’s Head. Anyone want to hear the details?

Wallace is naming titles of songs by They Might Be Giants.

It’s fun to teach vocab that kids have never seen or noticed. I tell them they can make people think they’re insulting them if they call them oxymorons. They love that. And there are lots of different words that mean, at heart, lying. Engaging in hyperbole is a favorite with them. I love word play of all kinds—especially bad puns!

When students would ask why they needed to know something I was teaching in class I would tell them, “I know much of this information is a bit esoteric but think of it as for your own edification.” That usually shut the class up. I was teaching chemistry at the time.

Hmm… if Wallace gets a degree…Art or Science or both?

Today, it was something like 20 degrees with sun, and I heard several birds singing. The little bird in panel one must have had the same idea!
