Bennet Cerf was pretty memorable in his own write (pun intended) but maybe more memorable for betting Dr. Seuss that he couldn’t write a children’s book that used no more than 50 different words. We ended up with Green Eggs and Ham. Cerf conceded that Seuss had won but, according to Seuss, never paid up.
The only place I ever saw or heard of Bennett Cerf was on “What’s My Line”, but then I had no idea who the other panelist were, also. My age at the time was in single digits.
