I’ve looked things up online, but I’ll only buy online if I can’t get it from a local store.

There’s a huge B&N virtually around the corner from me. Still going strong after years and years, although I have no idea how they do it.

I used to go to Waldenbooks after every payday. Loved that place.. the manager and I chatted a lot, and he even gave Mama my discount when she came in :) Kinda bent the rules because she didn’t have my card, but he knew who she was :)

I never got that about browsing books at a store only to buy them online.Excerpts and reviews being available online anyway, I mean.

It is a shame that bookstores aren’t a viable concern in most parts, IMHO.But then I can’t claim to be part of the solution, as I’ve only bought one paper book for myself in the past ten years.I just haven’t the space for them, and I generally prefer e-books anyway for a number of reasons. I’d buy quite a few more of those than I currently do, if more publishers released them DRM free. I have somewhat of a backlog of books I want to read if/when they become available without DRM.

Anyway, nearly all “book” stores around here are really more “office supply” stores.

Book stores are the only stores I really enjoy shopping at.

Hobby shops are closing too, for the same reasons. And they’re mostly family or small businesses. People don’t realise the value of the advice and help they get and only look at price.

I liked Borders, but B&N will do.

Thanks to WalMart and Amazon, a great many brick and mortar stores are disappearing.

You have to hand it Douglas Adams for seeing the E-Book before everyone else.

I prefer going out and buying something “now” rather than buying online. I hate online shopping so if I can’t get it at the store, I let the store order it for me and have it shipped to the store since there is no way I want anything shipped to where I live. I’ve seen those videos on YouTube….

He’s a person who is unclear on the concept. Losing bookstores is a very sad thing. Kids are already not being taught cursive writing. Is reading next?

My wife was a big fan of Amazon, until she ordered clothing, after going into a store and finding what she liked, first. When the order arrived. They didn’t even look close to the store’s clothing. I gave up on Amazon, when trying to buy parts for my 61.
