I’m not sure. Did Rita’s desk fall thru the floor ? There’s her water bottle and maybe her shoes. Or are those her legs we see up top of the other hole ?

Maybe those noise cancelling phones were overloaded when Rita and Sal got too close to Jay and attempted to cancel them

Did Jay order those from Acme, purveyor of cartoon hardware?

I used them all the time before I retired. Blocked out all the people talking about sports and TV.

Whatever it was, it wasn’t enough to wake Ed. You can still see the top of his head as he is kicked back in the bottom right of the panel.

I know this is probably supposed to be a meteor but it reminds me of Phineas and Ferb when Dr. D makes his Mountian out of a mole hill inator.

Arthur C. Clarke wrote short story about noise cancellation by phase cancellation. In order to do it that way the exactly out of phase sound has to be as loud as the noise. Hilarity ensued, similar to the cartoon.
