Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
One Redditor recently took a look at how many of the stormtroopersâ blaster shots found their target in A New Hope. Out of 469 shots fired, only 11 hit an enemy combatant â all of which occurred in the filmâs opening scene, as Imperial forces boarded the Tantive IV, engaging in a firefight with Rebel troops.
In fiction, âredshirtâ is an informal term for a stock character who is killed off shortly after being introduced. The term often implies that said character was introduced for the sole purpose of being killed off while adding little else to the story, and is sometimes used pejoratively to point out a redshirtâs lack of good characterization or the obviousness of their incoming demise. Redshirt deaths are often used to emphasize the potential peril faced by more important characters. The term originates from the original Star Trek television series (1966â69), in which red-uniformed security officers and engineers often suffered deaths in the episode in which they first appeared, in contrast to most of the showâs main characters wearing other colors.
Storm Troopers are actually very accurate shooters. Look what they did to the Jawas. In the Death Star, they actually missed on purpose, because Darth Vader wanted the Princess to escape so he could track them to their hidden rebel Base.Watch the escape from Death Star scenes again with the knowledge that the troopers were ordered not to harm them, and you can see just what good soldiers they were.
In TOS there were more red shirt deaths than gold shirts BUT gold shirts were statistically more likely to die during an away mission than a red shirt was.
I read a Heinlein juvenile when I was 7 and got my geek membership card shortly after. I watched âScience Fiction Theaterâ on TV. I had a subscription to "Fantasy and Science Fiction in 8th grade. I got tired of Star Trek after the first season. I donât think I ever watched it on a color TV.
if youâre a nerd who understands a red shirt is usually a guest or unknown Star Trek spacer whoâll get killed and Stormtroopers in Star Wars are lousy shots
I donât watch any TV, or go to movies very often. I get most of the references to modern culture from crossword puzzles and Yahoo headlines. I got the red shirt reference that way. And I did see the original 6 SW films, so I figured it was some kind of reference to Stormtroopers.

And that red shirt in the bar has to die no matter if the dart has a steel tip or a plastic one.

One of my favourite t-shirts has a drawing of a Dalek on it and the text OMG! Itâs R2-D2! I loved him on Star Trek.
Someone once came up to me and seriously told me that âR2-D2 wasnât on Star Trek.â

Star Trek TOS and TNG were my favorites and Star Wars too even most of the animated series, I do wish Lucas buys it back.
