My family had a tradition—leftover turkey was vacuum sealed until New Year’s Eve when it would be defrosted and made into turkey enchiladas as the centerpiece of a Mexican themed dinner.
Réchauffé (ray-show-FAY) Noun:A dish of warmed-up food left over from a previous meal. French, from réchauffé warmed-over, from past participle of réchauffer to warm over, from ré re- + chauffer to warm, from Middle French chaufer.First Known Use: 1805
I found out, in my late teens, why my mother was such a good cook … boredom! She was tired of preparing the same stuff over and over, so she got different cookbooks and, once or twice a week, would experiment. Sometimes the experiments were successful … sometimes they weren’t.
