That’s the problem with people, they think money buys happiness so they spend every dollar as fast as they earn it. In good economic times they do ok, but then they are completely hosed when bad times come because they never saved and prepared for bad times.

True happiness cannot be bought. Artificial substitutes may cost more and become less and less satisfying over time (even without inflation).
