A few years ago I read about âchocolate covered espresso beansâ in a science fiction story. I thought it was a craazy invention from the writerâs fevered imagination. Turned out to be a real thing. I then found out that itâs possible to overdose on them. A medical student brought a pound to snack on during finals, and had to be taken to the ER.
weâd stopped in a coffee shop for some irish coffee. when my buddy inquired why there was no whipped cream in the irish coffee, the snooty waiter told him, disdainfully, that would dirty the glass. my buddy quickly replied with a chuckle, go ahead, dirty it upâŠ
Itâs a trope (which Iâve seen play out in real life) that the appreciation of coffee is preceded by âCoffee with lots of sugar and cream.â Thatâs fine. Thatâs natural.
I got seriously into coffee in college, when I needed it; âLiking itâ wasnât the point. (Now I like it, with a little cream and sugar, but I still want to taste âstrong coffee.â)

Kids used to think smoking cigarettes made them look grown-up and sophisticated. Now kids know it just makes them look stupid and craving lung cancer.

All the additives cancel out the benefits of coffee. Now it is a heart attack and diabetes just waiting to happen.

That sounds like an order I used to fill when I worked in the drive through coffee hut across the street from a methadone clinic.

Sounds like one of Starbuckâs milkshakes. Except the coffee in hers is almost certainly better than theirs.
