In my first “meet the whole extended family” gathering, I had impressed them by keeping up with and contributing to two and occasionally three separate conversations at the same time (a family tradition I knew from my own). At one point, I saw a stoneware ocarina used as a doorstop. I picked it up and gave it a try. I only produced three or four notes, but someone shouted out, “Hey everybody, Paul is playing the doorstop.” Total silence. The patriarch of the group was an old fife and drum corp musician, and gave me one of his fifes. So, I got a fife and ultimately a wife out of the incident. Moral: never underestimate the value of a doorstop.
arlo looks to be thinking about all the responses to Janis butchoosing to remain silent. pick your battles wisely, he knowshe is not going to find a 100,000 dollar meteor.
I saw a meteorite hit, but it landed in a feed lot with about 1000 head of beef in it. But honestly—you do not want to go poking around on the ground in a feed lot.
Did you read about the guy(s) using a gold brick as a door stop? Seriously happened at my work back on the ‘70s-’80s. A metal brick was being used as a doorstop at the bottom of a dark stairwell. Had been there for many years until someone moved it one day and realized it was much too heavy to be copper or brass.

My, those expressions at the end.
All of panel 4 plays out in my head like an episode of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”.

I wonder where Arlo was going with that question. Kinda looks like he is thinking the same thing. Took all the wind out of his sails.

Is it my imagination, or did the sky darken in the last panel?

Apparently the witty response was left out of the last panel. Probably an oversight or a misprint. Hopefully they’ll fix it?

But, $100,000+ according to space.com – I would sell in a minute. (I know, I know. But we’d still have our memories!)
