My two decide when its time for me to get up. I get nose-bumped or nose-licked until I rouse myself. Usually a half hour after sunup. They have dry food at all times and are self feeding, but they want me in my chair so they can snuggle. Plus they love, for some unknown reason, to sniff my morning mug of coffee. They don’t try to lap it up, they just both give it a good sniff or two. Strange.
One of my cats- Bob is his name- woke me this morning playing with a large ball with a squeaky mouse inside of it. He woke the whole house at 6:25 and I was not too excited about it. For the most part, though, our cats are fairly well behaved in the morning. Most days…. Wait, what am I saying? They’re cats! Of course they wake us before the alarm most mornings! Sleeping in is a luxury not found in most homes with cats or young children.
Our small dog has always slept in bed with us. We have steps to the bed, he goes up but someone has to help him get down. To get my attention he will lick my face until I wake up, then I set him down and open the back doors so he can get out and chase the rabbits. 8 years ago he was a puppy mill rescue with far to many medical problems that required surgery. Last surgery was over 3 years ago but he still has a very deep fear of men in white coats.
I’m semi retired enough and the Mrs works from home that it’s ok. We also have automatic dry food feeders for the pet bowls and thus we can sleep without being awakened for breakfast. 2 AM Zoomies are another thing.
Just adopted a 2 year old male cat. Apparently whoever had him before got up at 5 and let him out. He tries in every decibel and tone to inform me of my responsibility at that hour but, unless he’s in his carrier or in harness with leash, he’ll not step paw outside.

Ludwig operates on sun time, he cares not at all what the clock says.

Mine gets up at 3:30 AM for her breakfast. Thankfully, she sleeps in my sister’s bed!

Well it’s almost dawn here. I’ll have to take a break from GoComics now and take care of the cats.

Yup! Cats are all a like! They tell YOU when it is time to get up and feed them! They must be king/queen of the castle!

My cat has me programmed to this degree as well. And she is always pleased I cooperate. My wife, on the other hand…..

Misery does indeed love company: I’m glad to hear that other humans also support cats who unilaterally decide when brekkies is to be served.

Don’t we get an extra hour of sleep when the time changes?

One of the many reasons I will never have a cat. The sun comes up at 7:30 where I live, so Arlo is not getting up that early.

I see that Ludwig is back to walking like a camel again. I wish he’d make up his mind and choose one way or the other.
