On another note: Besides a mask, which isn’t 100% effective but far better then none, I’ve taken to using a plastic produce bag turned inside out as a glove when handling produce. Hopefully it contributes to protecting other shoppers.
Who would have thought that Arlo and Janis would turn out to be trumpers? In the middle of one of the worst pandemic ins history they are walking around grocery shopping with out masks. Total disregard for there wellbeing of their fellow citizens! Sad!
To all the CIDU’s out there. I’m no expert but apparently it takes a couple of days for a fresh avocado to ripen. Arlo, being the gourmet that he is, has is a little closer than that. 8^ )
P.S. CIDU is an insiders acronym for Comics I Don’t Understand. There is (was) a website operates by CIDU Bill that displayed some of the more “esoteric” cartoons found here and there with commenters providing interpretations. Jimmy J with his offbeat sense of humor often made an appearance on Bill’s site. For those who aren’t aware, Bill Bickel aka CIDU Bill passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday the 16th. The obituary and funeral page can be found here: https://normandean.com/tribute/details/10477/William-Bickel/obituary.html.
A woman once stopped me in a grocery store to ask about avocados. I told her there are two questions to ask. When will you use them? How will you use the. I spent about ten minutes with her explaining the soft ones were great if you were making guacamole that day. A little firmer would be good for salads for the next day or so if refrigerated. The rock hard ones were taking a chance. Sometimes they never ripen correctly to eat uncooked and I have not appetite for cooked avocado. For those thinking she was trying to pick me up – fear not. She was about twenty years younger than me and I was with my wife.
i soak items in water 5-10 minutes with baking soda to clean, then rinse them. that includes avocadoes because slicing the peels on them could introduce bacteria to the fruit inside. i don’t worry about me so much, i have the constitution of a goat, but there’s my DH and the little grands to consider.
For lettuce 1) I soak it in a bowl with water and a little white vinegar for about 6 minutes and thoroughly move the leaves through the solution with my hands and 2) that same bowl is part of a salad spinner. Soak, rinse, spin, consume.

Quarantine. But where are the masks? Maybe they do live in Florida.

Anyone care to explain?

How come all of the pro-mask people aren’t screaming about those two being out in public sans masks?

2.35 days; that’s 56 hours and 24 minutes, no seconds. Set your alarm!
ems4u247 about 4 years ago
The number itself still has me puzzled. How is the 2.35 significant? 2.35 X 24 = 56.4 hours. . . doesn’t make sense. Anybody?

Jimmy Johnson has too much class to be encouraging maskless shopping.

Colbert had a good line about buying green avocados and daily checking them for eating…hard, hard, hard, mush.

2.4 days and they’ll be too ripe for even avocado toast.
