I used to be better at remembering too. Fortunately my wife knows where almost everything is and I am somewhat accomplished in gadget charades! 8^ )

Sounds like that’ll throw a wrench in your plans. You’ll just have to tool around.

I don’t know whether my memory is getting worse or not. I can’t remember whether it used to be good.

But I do find that I can’t think of the right …er…um…meaningful noise thingy for things.

This is what soulmates do. Knowing what you’re looking for is not as important as having someone to help you look who can make you laugh at yourself. Sorry if that got deep.

At least clue her in on what you are taping, painting, screwing, or tightening and she would do better.

He will know it when he sees it.

I don’t have that problem. I can remember what I’m looking for and what it’s called. I just can’t remember where I left it. And heaven forbid I put it back where it belongs. Then it’ll be 2 hour to find the right tool for a 5 minute job.

The older I get, the more I use the word “thing”. As in “Where’s the thing that helps you unscrew caps? You know, the thing with the blue holes in it.” I can describe any number of features; I just can’t come up with the name for it.

It’s clear that the brain stores names separately from other attributes, even though if I were implementing a database, I would store all the attributes in the same place.

“The whatchamacallit.” My Dad always was looking for the Whatchamacallit.

Another “we resemble them”.

I just keep all that stuff in the “junk drawer”.

My problem is I put things that do not have a specific place where I won’t lose them. It turns out that is quite different from being where I can find them. It is safe wherever it is.

She can only reliably read his mind when he’s thinking about… you know… ㋡

When we reno’d our new (to us) the wife mandated no junk drawer in the brand new kitchen. My mom’s reproduction writing desk or the electric fireplace were fair game, plus the laundry, but not in the brand new kitchen

Could be the vaccination certificate. (German “Impfpass”, maybe some fellow Germans know what advertising I’m referring to. Had to get it out of my system.)

Janis could help him if he gave better clues!

my problem is with the distractions, if I can go ahead with my schedule no problems, but if I get sidetracked…

My memory is actually improving with age, as it does for most seniors.

The problem, of course, is that I am recalling more and more from childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood.

Last week, not so much.

My bride was always able to know what I was looking for and tell me where it was. She said she had a “tracking uterus” and could find anything. Now, when I can’t find something, I just ask her to come help me look. Before she gets in, I usually find it.

There was a line in “Broadcast News”, when one character ( I forgot their names) says “ I’ll meet you at the place with the thing where we went that time” and the other character says “ ok!”.

Oh oh! Is Janis showing the first signs of dementia? Arlo is just being Arlo.

We have what I call “Proper Noun Syndrome.” We know what mean and can discuss it fully but just can’t think of it’s name.

When that happens to me my stepdaughter starts taunting me, “come on now – use your words …”

so it’s her fault that you are experiencing part-timers?
