Pro tip from a guy who worked as a bench tech for 14 years: to find tiny dropped things, get a powerful flashlight and shine it horizontally across the floor while looking down on the area. The itty bitty thing will cast a much larger shadow. Obviously, the only hope of finding something like that on carpet is to walk barefoot on it, and even that is last ditch.
My last boss was teasing our instrument tech about replacing the vinyl tile with one that had pictures of tiny screws and springs on it….
