I do like showing Baldo has art skills. it’s not something I saw coming but it fits the character and gives him some more intrests and talents other than cars. Not that being a car guy is bad, but it’s nice to round him out a bit beyond “mildly dumb teen who likes cars”.

So will Baldo’s story become autobiographical? Stay tuned.

Amazing what a kind and encouraging word from a teacher can do for a student. Wish all teachers were like that. I know a lot are but there are also a lot that aren’t unfortunately.

    She is a great teacher!

Always focus on the positive and the negative will seem to disappear.

In other words, since she was so supportive of his art, Baldo may have gained more respect for her and might pay a bit more attention in her class.

    :-))

When I worked in school system there was a boy who struggled with traditional subjects. I walked over and saw his sketch before he hid it. I knelt down to look him eye to eye and smiled. I explained that people with art talent often have problems in other classes and that with his talent i could see him in graphic design, advertising or even architecture. He brightened the room with his smile. He never knew his passion had career potential. I told him to go talk to art teacher and join art club and that if he didn’t have funds to join, I would cover it. Next time I saw him he stood 3 inches taller, smiled proudly, and pointed to a framed work in the hall that he had done. All it takes is a kind word sometimes and seeing people for who they are not what you expect them to be.

He can aspire to become a great important artist, like a cartoonist.

I wonder if Baldo’s family is aware of his artistic gifts.

Learning to air brush and paint would allow him to enjoy his two loves, cars and art.

I have to wonder if this is a bit of Autobiography on the part of one of the Artists.
