I will really miss this strip. It was often very funny and always thoughtful. I think what I liked best was that it took longer than 10 seconds to read, and that it made you think. Good luck on you future efforts. While I will miss the new material I look forward to the reruns.

I’m sorry to see you end the strip. I’m a recent visitor to go comics and to your humor. Thank you, I wish you could do both but I imagine creating a regular occurring comic strip with unique ideas is very demanding.I look forward to seeing your past comics for the first time, I think.

At panel one I was bummed because I had just discovered this strip a couple of months ago. By panel four I was okay – everything old is new again. If it works for Peanuts, For Better or Worse and Doonesbury it works for Basic Instructions!

You are one talented strip writer (and a mediocre illustrator). If your fiction is half as good as your comic has been, success is guaranteed. Oh, and I was joking about the graphics—they are ideally suited to the humor here and serve to perfectly accent whatever wisdom you happen to be beating us with at the moment…

Well, you were quite a ways from ending up like “The Lockhorns” “Heathcliff” or “Love is” but I can understand. Like Bill Watterson, you know to quit while you’re ahead. Thanks for all the great strips! When I first encountered your strip, the dialog was so brilliant I thought you might be Kyle Baker (that’s very high praise!) and you kept that brilliance thoughout.Good luck with the writing!

Sure sorry to hear that. I have enjoyed your work and will miss it. You and Jon Stewart of the Daily Show were two sites I never missed a day without viewing and now you are both gone in the same month, at least regards new material. I’m sure it was great news for the stuffed shirts of the world, but bad news for the rest of us.

Well, Peanuts is in its 500th year of reruns and Garfield is on its 4,000th iteration of the three jokes it uses so I guess we’ll survive.

Someone made a mistake telling cartoonists they were free to try other avenues of creative endeavor (well except maybe for whoever does “frank & ernest”…someone please get the writer a different job.)
