Well, he’s not much of a shoplifter, and they don’t allow dogs in the store anyways.

Obviously, you need to trade him in. He’s just one of those “useless eaters.”

Of course he can fetch your slippers. He just doesn’t want to. If you had a cat now, it might fetch your slippers but there would be a present in one of them.

Just how much do you want from a poor little dawg.

I think the dog is trying to convey that the man doesn’t have any slippers

Any living creature smart enough to do all that would realize that fetching slippers is degrading.
