Why on earth would you make your dog sleep outside…alone. they are pack animals and your family is their pack. Bad Paul, maybe YOU should sleep outside. Chained up. Tsk.
Well, take a look at it this way: In Lady and the Tramp, Lady’s owners tried having her sleep outside of the room, so they could have peace to themselves, and establish a level of independence for Lady. However, she got her way, and was able to sleep with them, even as she matured. Buckles, who is mentally half human, has yet to learn dependence and bravery, since he’s been cradled his whole life, especially by Jill. Of course, that’s not to say that Buckles can’t sleep inside, since lots of owners do that themselves.
My dog sleeps with me. All my pets have. I used to have several, and would leave the door open. Being a very light sleeper, I would notice them coming and going all night. All have been great snugglers, both cats and dogs. Plus if I heard a noise in the night, if the dogs ignored it, I could go back to sleep. A dog tied tightly to a dog house in the fenced in backyard will not be able to protect his family/pack.
My current dog would sleep in the bathroom where her blanket, crate (open) with her toys and water bowl. One night she started whining and she broke me. She now sleeps with me. I’m an ole softy.

Paul has definitely flunked being a decent person training. If you are just going to chain a dog outside, don’t get one.
