The day Calvin started to go Goth.

I’d prefer an uncomfortably cold house to an uncomfortably hot one.

At least when it’s cold I can put on warm clothes or get under the blanket or something like that. There isn’t a lot you can do when it’s hot.

Wearing an ugly sweater builds character.

68 isn’t even cold. That’s light sleeved conditions.

68 F is 20 C . It is the right temperature to wear a T-shirt .

I hate being cold (childhood trauma!).

When one doesn’t have to pay bills then it is easy to want things warmer. Though 72F degrees isn’t too unreasonable.

20oC is a great room temperature for winter. 20oC outside is defo T-shirt weather for many in Scotland!

Given that we live with our elderly father, we don’t see 68 until mid-March!

What?!? Do something constructive, instead of complain?!? Forget it!

My thermostat is also set at 20 degrees, and I can tolerate it. Back in 1986, I had my apartment set at 16 degrees, but then I was barely there, unlike now.

Never mind, Dad. You got Calvin’s blood boiling, instead! :D

I havn’t seen Hobbes for a few days, I’m starting to have Hobbes withdrawals.

My boss & I used to have an office in an old mill building. Unfortunately, we had an “inner” office, and the wing’s thermostat was in one of the “outer” offices, more affected by the outside elements. In the summer I’d need to wear a sweater & sometimes it was so cold I had trouble typing; in the winter, we’d be sweating. I found us a different office…the one we’re in now. Each office has its own source of heat/cool. We’ve been here for a few years now, and the novelty hasn’t worn off yet.

We have central heating and air. In the summer we keep the house at 74 and in the winter 68.

I like it cooler too, but I have to admit, 68° is pretty cold.

In the summer we go for 26⁰C (79⁰F) and winter 16⁰C (61⁰F), but we go in and out a lot and anything more than a 10⁰C (18⁰F) difference is an invitation to the sniffles.

My wife likes working from home, she can wear a heavy bathrobe and sweats all day, every day.

It’s a Jimmie Carter sweater. Anybody remember that?

Carol and I were pretty little. She said to me, “It’s cold in here.” Now that she mentioned it, yes, it was cold. So we went to Mom and Carol did the talking. Mom said, “Oh, I can do this,” and fiddled with a thing on the wall, and soon it was warmer. Another day, I was cold, so I went to Mom and spoke myself. Mom said, “If you’re cold, put more clothes on.” I was wearing a pair of short trousers and nothing else. So I went in my room and got a long sleeve shirt and long pants. I thought it was great that I could adjust my clothes for the temperature!

I turn the heat down at bedtime to 65. I get up at 6:30 to turn it up for the day to 73 then jump back in bed until 7 when the house is nice and toasty. We old people need more heat.

Sometimes the landlords get a little stingy with the heat but I put on my bathrobe in the living room, plus turn on my oscillating portable heater in the bedroom.

Just. . . Just have a great day. Please don’t be nasty on gocomics even though nobody here is but on other strips people are. Tomorrow’s christmas eve and nobody can ruin that. See U all on christmas!

You could save a ton of money on heating if you get better insulation for your house, especially around the windows. But what do I know, I’ve lived in an apartment my whole life.

A friends Mother in law story. She was a Southern lady who came to the snow belt for Christmas. She then insisted on wearing lightweight blouses & slacks. After the first Christmas son-in-law got her warmer clothing to wear.

68 my house is set at 65 and if I turn it up I get yelled at. Calvin should count his blessings.

This is my parents to a tee. Except it doesn’t snow where we live so they’re still sending me out to rake the leaves.

68 is perfectly reasonable if you ask me. Any higher and I’m roasting.

Calvin’s dad is a maniac to have the thermostat set so high. Mine is set at 65 and I’m perfectly comfortable in my winter lounge wear. I like being able to sit around the house in my sweatpants and sweatshirt.

I remember one of these strips where Calvin looks at the thermostat and says “ Hey, this goes up to 90 degrees- we could be sitting around in our shorts!”

Business was extremely bad one year and we couldn’t afford oil for our furnace. We heated the house with a wood stove all winter. My room was furthest from the woodstove, that would runout of wood overnight so when i got up at 6 am to get ready to go to school i could always see my breath when I got out of bed. Nothing makes you get dressed faster than not having any heat. The one benefit that year was that I did not catch a single cold. The years the house was properly heated i always got colds. I think the germs, viruses etc. froze to death or were too cold to readily reproduce. Maybe bnot heating our homes would be the solution to the pandemic.

68?! We’re set at 62 in the winter. I’d go 75 or 77 in the summer, but the better half would melt. I can get it as high as 72 before she starts complaining.

Usually run ours at 65F with a jumper on and hot chocolate in hand.
