I wish I could brag about that !!!

Calvin, no matter how much you have to brag about, you should never brag. Bragging is always crass and uncool. The claim of “bragging rights” is only made by ill-bred louts.

Stupid /ˈst(y)o͞opəd/: Bragging about not doing anything while Mom is busy cleaning.

I see Calvin made it off the roof (from yesterday’s strip).

And his parents think, “D@mmit, another insurance policy shot to He11!”

Where are these coming from? I’ve never seen them before! Did Watterson come out of retirement or something?

Bragging is doing.

Hahaha – Mom should’ve put up this sign: “If you have nothing to do, then go do it elsewhere!”

I stand in line at the checkout and brag: “No place to go.”

Remembering how I used to relate to Calvin in this strip; now realising that I relate to his mum so much more.

Calvin, you’re about to find out that nothing good can come from bragging!

Once you’re done bragging Cal, ask Mom why that hole is getting so deep.

She has no plants near by, am sure she is not putting in her own swimming pool, could it be that she needs to bury someone? Remember to always mind your own business when someone is digging a hole for no reason!

Retirement is like this too!

I’m surprized he hasn’t already learnt not to brag about that to his mom. I’m sure I knew that by the time I was six, and he’s been six for a while.

My Mom’s response to that would have been to hand me another shovel and say “Make yourself useful.”

Child bragging to mom about having nothing to do equals chores, lots and lots of chores.

Pride goeth before a fall. Bragging about your good fortune is an invitation to misfortune.

I rarely said that to my parents. When I did, they always found something for me to do…like cleaning out the grease trap…

Difference between a kid and grown-up. Kid complains “I didn’t do anything all weekend”. The grown-up sighs with relief “I didn’t do anything all weekend”.

I’ve got nothing to do, and all day to do it!

Another “Do Nothing” strip.

At the beginning of summer, Calvin looked in his diary and proudly announced that each day said “Do nothing.” He and Hobbes went outside to do it.

About two years ago, Calvin told Hobbes, “It’s so hot, we can’t do anything.” He then added, “Fortunately, that was our plan all along.”

“If you have time to lean, you have time to clean.”

“I don’t have anything to do” really translates to “I don’t have to do anything”!

Which will quickly translate to “I have a right to do anything.”

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.

Ennui is not a virtue.

There’s lots of things he could do, several things he might do, a couple of things he probably should do, but nothing he really must do.

Where is Hobbes when Calvin needs him?
