Coming Soon š At the beginning of April, youāll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Morninā all!I have to wonder which mystery will be resolved first ā what Broadway Bates is up to, or if GoComics can find the Sunday strip? (Isnāt it the second time theyāve done this in one month?)As for our story, I wondered yesterday what would happen if a real criminal mistook our costumed players for the real thing. Have to wait and seeā¦
Really poor coloring job here today all aroundā¦. Kinda surprised that West Jewelry Mart is still in the Loop instead of on North Michigan Avenue. Unless The Dailyās headline writer got the locale wrongā¦.
When displaying the flag against a wall, vertically or horizontally, the flagās union (stars) should be at the top, to the flagās own right, and to the observerās left. Source ā http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html
Remindās you of Dickās RUN (2010) in the āScience Museumā the memorable one crafted by Dicky Locher ?At that time, your friend Otto Baron noted :āIn the first panel Tracy appears like heās trying to take off. Unfortunately āCHICKENSā are incapable of flightā.
http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2010/06/10 and. . .http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2010/06/22Locher was always the pace setter in these novel innovations.
If you look at the strip in black and white, Joe drew the āreadā stripes as solid black lines, Thus the colorist had no way of making red stripes. He either had to miscolor the white stripes, leaving the flag uncolored, and do like they did at Comic Kingdom and wash the entire panel with a single color. One of the problems with trying to add color to something that was originally complete black and white drawing, and not an "outline"designed to be colored (like they do with comics).
As for the way the flag faces, if you Google a picture of Chicagoās Union Station, you will find that the flag does actually hang that way. Joe is correct in the way that he drew the flag. While it is not the proper way to display it, it is correct that it is displayed that way.
I canāt find my book, but about the American flag hanging improperly- if it is hung in a certain direction, it is hung as is shown. Has to do with North-East-South-West directions.
Shame the Sunday strip isnāt available here. You can find it on Comics Kingdom with just about any paper but unfortunately I donāt have a magnifying glass and the zoom button just brings up a large blur.
To be honest; I wonāt use Seattle PIās comic strips. For one, you have to turn off all security to see it. #2 the strip is so fuzzy I couldnāt read it, and zoom doesnāt work.
Not only is the choice of colors consistently poor on the gocomics dailies, but itās done really sloppily. (Notice the beige splotch on the word balloon in the first panel? Andā¦ a bright yellow newspaper?) Hey gocomics, if itās not worth spending more than 5 minutes of your time coloring the thing, just give us the black and white version!
Maybe somebody posted this already, but hereās the missing Sunday strip:http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/comics/king-comics.html?feature_id=Dick_Tracy&feature_date=2012-11-25
Well maybe that is a full color newspaper, but I suspect it is really the advertising card in the front or at the side of the paper machine. We have them quite regularly around our town. And I contacted GOCOMICS yesterday about the reasons for leaving out Sunday DT as well as the terrible act of disparaging the Nationās flag. I was advised someone would respond very shortly. Nearly 24 hours later no one has.
