Is this a new version? I hadn’t heard anything about it! Looks like they just stuck in the “real” date into their reruns. But this is still one of my favorite comics!!
as best as I can recall, Lynn didn’t want to do the re-run route, and I’m sure didn’t want things photo-shopped, but the U/GoComics overlords probably own the rights and do whatever they want… so we get little “tweaks”.. still one of the best strips plus we can all play psychic and “see” the future…
If they are still using their old-style TV, sounds like John is trying to be frugal and not waste money. Yup, Patterson is definately a Scottish name! :)
If you go back and look at Lynn’s commentary after she completed the strip a couple years ago, she said she was planning to restart things and implement some stuff she wished, in retrospect, she’d done the first time. These are not, technically, re-runs.

Good writing – like this – is timeless.

If this is a re-run and April hasn’t been born yet, how come John says it’s 2013?

As I understand it, this new version will not progress in real time. Like in Hi & Lois, the kids will never age.

Nothing changes New Year’s Day.

The “2013” has been photoshopped over the date that was originally published. The font is slightly larger.

either way, love this comic, one of my favorite. Happy New Year to you all, be safe and enjoy. I know that is sometimes hard to do but try.

Still one of my favorite strips, even if they did change the date. My niece would totally do that and I would have too as a kid. :)

Must be some sort of time warp. Elizabeth is grown and married.

Either the entire Patterson family fell into the Fountain of Youth, or “2013” was photoshopped.

2013 and they still have an old style TV. Way to spend those dentist paychecks John.

Wait a minute. Lynn Johnston quit doing the strip. These are all very old strips. So how come it’s 2013?

@invisible It was “1984” in the original.
