Ah, but who’s scamming whom? Yes, Belle DBA Willa Scarlett no doubt has a bad end in mind for the Black Piranha. But the possible alliance of Cinnamon Knight and Dick Tracy may foil her wicked plans and bring down Broadway in the event, too. (I must, however, admit that a bad end for BP would carry powerful admonitory dramatic impact).
Funny thing, Belle’s costume appears to be based loosely on the Movie version of Robin Hood, and it just so happens that A certain Gotham crimefighter has a partner who’s costume was also based on Robin Hood’s
To the hypercritic: Ithink this denouement o the strip to be original and amusing. Only, the costume of SCARLETT shouldn’t be some shade of red? Or is Belle daltonic? Or maybe, seeing some pastchromatic choices, the colorist…In any case Iadvise the whiners to stop clogging the comments with their repetitive complaints. Read something else till this story ends and leave us alone!
Gould frequently took story ideas from the headlines and went his own weird way with them. This cosplay story follows in that tradition. How “Black Piranha” can possibly think this is a good idea is beyond me. But this sort of reckless behavior is also a Gould tradition.
Wonderful art, once again, as we visit a second rooftop. This time we are across the street from the “Bijou,” which is clearly the Chicago Theatre, located on State Street, that great street. I suspect Mr. Gould would be quite pleased to see his creation being treated with such care and creativity. Hat’s off to Team Tracy.
I’m sort of late posting this, but with these people posing as superheroes and villans, could it be this is the case with whoever is posing as Moonmaid?
As much as I love the “new” Dick Tracy, I’m finding this particular story incredibly dopey.
I’ve had a horrible thought: you don’t suppose that “Moon Maid” will turn out to be another one of these costumed role-players? They wouldn’t do that to us, would they?
It appears from Mike’s recent post that the time restrictions on the length of storylines have been lifted by TMS and we can look forward to the stories taking the time they need for completion.
Mike has also indicated that between the longer arcs he may insert shorter (one or two-week) arcs as well.
Cosplay taken over the edge^^Yeah, really, at the anime cons I went to, you weren’t allowed to have real weapons, never mind running around on the streets pretending to fight crime
Love the profile perspective comparison, Mikey^^Thx… Wendy was always accusing Tracy of just about anything; my favorite character created during the Fletcher/Collins era
@ Those folks who have commented on the name “Willa Scarlett” – you wondered if her costume shouldn’t have been red, or if it is a nod to her red hair.
One of Robin Hood’s merry band of oulaws was named Will Scarlett. Considering the styling of her costume, I think that’s where the name comes from.
Wow, I know Chicago is known as the “windy city” – but it must be particularly windy today. Look at all the papers flying around in the wind up there on the roof top.
I like the stories where various people’s carefully planned plots collide because they don’t have all the information they need.
I’m guessing that Belle, knowing the habit of costumed characters of hanging around on rooftops, simply parked herself in a high place and watched for one of them to show up where she could reach them. If she’d spotted the Cinnamon Knight first, she would have introduced herself as a hero.
The Black Pirhana is a particular species of fish (and said to be the nastiest of the pirhana family). As for a character name, a color in the name refers to the costume. Think of the Black Knight/ Bolt/ Panther, Green Lantern/ Goblin/ Hornet, etc.
Love today’s strip! The bright lights, the wind blowing BP’s ponytail – great imagry and details usually not seen on rooftop scenes.I’m not surprised by BP accepting Willa Scarlett as a real bad guy; Willa seemed to accept her one, didn’t she? And a nice HOF tribute to Dorothy Uhnak.
Sorry. I don’t know anything about the plotlines of the upcoming stories, only the titles that I mentioned and Tsull mentioned Mike’s posting on Dec. 4th. I didn’t think I was revealing anything that had not been mentioned on this board before. I was not intending to give spoilers, only to discuss what had been brought up previously.^^Well Ray, please don’t take it personally , I was just using your post as an example; all I’m saying is that anyone reading what Mike is talking about, on his blog, RE future story lines and wants to talk about it here (Which they have every right to do); please let us know a spoiler is coming , people like myself who want to be surprised, can have the option to skip the post.
what’s nice about this comment section is that it gives diehard Dick Tracy fans a chance to give feedback directly to Mike….for instance, it seems very clear the majority of posters here would love to see the REAL Moon Maid somehow re-appear and be a regular…..so even if this one is slated to be an imposter, there’s no reason he can’t bring back the “real” one down the line for us. Sometimes we forget that this IS a comic; a fantasy; where the realities of life can and should be suspended for the joy of a brief escape from it all!

Belle looks quite tasty in that suit, but Stephanie just signed her own death warrant. This won’t be Belle’s first killing.

As super hot as Belle looks in her costume, thinking of someone saying, " I’m Willa Scarlett, Supervillianess", does make me actually laugh out loud.
