Mrs. Hillman: I remove everything in the refrigerator that's "expired". I acknowledge the scientists, nutritionists, and health professionals hired by the manufacturers to determine the "use by" dates. Then I smell everything... declare it fine... and pop it right back in the refrigerator! A hundred specialists are still no match for one mother's nose.

I’m with Cathy on this one. Urp. This is imaginary and I just want to go throw up. I guess this is one way to get out of cooking because I wouldn’t trust anything that woman cooks.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Have a great day, all!

I am a champion sniffer. I am the go-to person to “test” the stuff from the fridge.

Anyone who throws food out for no other reason than a sell by date must have more money than brains

I remember taking my Grandmother to doctor and him saying “Stop eating spoiled food!” She would do the same smell test, but her sense of smell and taste were diminishing as she got older (>90) so the test became invalid.

This is totally off the subject, but to share my miracle of the day with the clan … as of 09:03, have my Phizer vaccination appointments at CVS (4 blocks from my house); the first is on 3-22 and second on 4-22.

The look on Cathy’s face in panels 3 and 4 pretty much says it all: the food is spoiled, which just goes to show that the crazy old lady’s nose doesn’t work anywhere near as good as SHE thinks it does. Cathy needs to throw it away before they ALL get a nasty case of food poison-ing and if her M-I-L doesn’t like it, then she needs to get her OWN place where she can eat all the spoiled food she wants and then get as sick as a dog because of it too! :-P

Hi, rgcviper! :-)
.
Hello and Happy Thursday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope you all have/had a really nice day today. Stay safe and well, everyone! ♥

The sell by and best before dates are guidelines only. However if the food is a year past the best before you might want to consider not eating it.
Have a great Thursday – avoid eating spoiled food.

Better to be safe than sorry…I let canned goods go a little longer, but any fresh food, I go by the date on the package.

I was gonna say that I’m with Cathy’s expression in the last panel. However, if the food still tastes and smells good after the sell-by date …
HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.
