Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for February 28, 2013
February 27, 2013
March 01, 2013
Transcript:
Luann: "...And Tiffany kept accusing m e of doing nasty things on the internet with Quill!"
Mom: "But you're not"
Luann: "Of COURSE not! I KNOW the dangers. I'd never do that! It's not who I am!!"
Mom: "That went well"
Dad: "We are some awesome parents"
Good for Luann! Good for Frank and Nancy! We have all been spared a difficult encounter through Tiffanyâs malicious jealousy: as good an example of the Law of Unintended Consequences as we could ask.
Luannâs a good kid. Sheâs thoroughly smitten with Quill, but I think her protestations are legitimate⊠Sheâs not into anything her folks need to worry about. But theyâre her folks, so they worry⊠And because they are just a bit out of touch, they concoct these rather transparent harebrained schemes, which, thanks to Tiffany, they donât have to employ.
After all, in this comic strip, Luannâs brother can have sex with his girlfriend, but she is forever kept virginal. Itâs the perfect double standard.
Dad is right, they are awesome parents. Just judging by the fact that their daughter does not do those things on the internet means she was brought up well.
âWhen I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.â â Mark Twain
Luann, LuannâŠ.donât stretch the facts! Tiff said you were engaged in âSick Flirtingâ. Whether itâs sick or not depends on who you ask, and the flirting part, why are you denying it? Heâs your Boyfriend for goshsakes! Tiff was warning you about flirting escalating into something dangerous, she didnât actually accuse you of it. Oh well, guess you are just ventingâŠ
âThere are actually two times Dad took Luann to his job at the CIA agency disguised as an import/export business. The first arc starts on 04-26-93 and the 2nd is a year later, 04-25-94â
*
Thanks, Lev! Those are good arcs to mark since they actually contain important character information. :-) Iâm really impressed how you dredge stuff up out of the archive. I missed =both= of these arcsâmust have skipped a couple years.

As to Tiffany suggesting that Luann behave like that, as they say:âIt takes one to know one.â
krelboyne about 12 years ago
Ooops. Loud denial. Must be true.

Besides, itâs too hard to type in the chat rooms with just one handâŠ

Basic tom hopkins sales training, If you say it, they doubt it. If they say it, itâs true.
They lucked out.

I donât think we know exactly where Luann is at yet. What things did Tiffany suggest?

Nice little plot development, Karen. Youâll be an asset to Dad â and thanks for the blog contribution, too.

Itâs not âtaking credit;â rather an exhultation by Frank and Nancy of selfâdeprecating humor, spiced with a dash of sarcastism.

They should call Tiffany and thank her.

I think Tiff suggested Luann was âflirtingâ on line. Does that mean the same as sexting these days?

Yep, awesome parenting.
Just keep the lines of communication open and all will be revealed. Excellent planning, Frank.Whataguy!

A modern teenage girl, as written by a smug, out-of-touch adult man. Ugh. Such stilted, corny dialogue.

Okay, great job DeGroot parents. Now what are you going to do to help prevent Tiffiany from inevitably starting a rumor around school?

Being a parent is like being an astronomer:
You see and prepare for a comet, hoping to divert it, then get struck by some space debris coming in from left space.*Looks like everyone survived!
