Caulfield: Lord, forgive my little jokes on thee, and I'll forgive thy great big one on me. Frazz: Best poem ever. Caulfield: So I say today is a religious holiday. Frazz: We stil don't get the day off. Caulfield: Got me again!
I don’t want to start any blasphemous rumoursBut I think that God’s got a sick sense of humorAnd when I die I expect to find Him laughing Depeche Mode, Blasphemous Rumors
God didn’t create that stuff we did. He didn’t make us into robots that would follow Him without question and do everything right. He gave us a brain an emotions. We did this. We made war, disease, suffering. Blaming our Lord is a cheap way out. We are the problem.
And let’s not forget the few dozen naturally occuring elements and compounds that do nasty things to our bodies—arsenic, for example..And incidentally, what kind of “supreme” being designs a life form and then puts it on a world where 70% of the world’s surface is uninhabitable?
Man may have done it, but God certainly knew what would happen when he created man, and therefor is complicit in the crime. Or is he not truly omniscient? God created man, fully knowing of the atrocities and crimes he would commit and you’re telling me he gets off because he merely made man.
All I know is that I never PERSONALLY tasted the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, yet presumably I was born to suffer the punishment of those who did, 6000 years ago. When it suited God’s purpose, I’m told He was able and willing to remove the stain of Original Sin from one woman, 4000 years after the offending action was committed. Why not from remove it from every newborn person, beginning with Cain? Or at least after seven generations?
As a “Heavenly Father”, God sets an example that would get any earthly father following it tossed in jail for child abuse.
So become a Calvinist and you won’t have a problem with God as the author of evil. If we understood it all, we would be gods, and if we are, we are doing a lousy job.

God’s never done anything WE need to forgive Him for! He is perfect!

I’ve yet to have someone explain why the orders after the fall of Jericho don’t prove that that deity isn’t an egregious animal abuser.
