Mayor Armstrong’s inordinate interest continues to raise suspicion…. But I’m glad Tracy has had a chance to collect his thoughts and come up with a plan against the Jumbler!
I gotta admit; this ain’t one of Tracy’s better gigs. Matter-of-fact, I would have expected something akin to this to flow out of Locher’s pen. Let’s get on to some MM or Crimebustin’!
I have no insight in the strip—no part of the Yahoo group—-but I wonder if they mayor’s interest in this and the Sweatbox cases might be leading up to a shakeup in the Police Department. Possibly the firing of Patton?
Why would TMS’s lawyers order a halt to the Jumble story? Isn’t Jumble a TMS property? But if they did, why would they then allow the caricatures of the Jumble writing team to run, as was done last week? You may feel this story is weak, but I don’t think the lawyers had anything to do with it. Plus, doesn’t Mike write at least six months in advance? If lawyers were involved, why would any part of a story they disliked see daylight? I don’t follow your thinking on this.
I’m relatively new here. Where is this background info coming from? It sounds pretty interesting and I’d love to read whatever you are basing your thoughts on.
You said: “You are being premature…”-——————————————————You’re probably right.I’ve been reading the strip since Team Tracy took over, and this is the first time I’ve complained about a story (I even loved the tales with Cinnamon Knight, and Thunderchild).I also enjoy the Jumble puzzles, and the cross-over (as I said) really had promise. But the whole “Jumble” tie-in vanished after the cameos by the puzzles’ unnamed creative team.My big problem is the reliance upon the use of the word jumble – as a cookie, okay, but in a headline (a VERY unlikely occurrance) – as the key for his crime (hence my ‘jumble’-aya remark).I’ve gone back and re-read the story, and it’s been running for less than 3 weeks, so yes, I really am premature in my remarks.(I’ve barely commented – or read the comments – since the story began.)Mike and Joe haven’t failed us yet, so I’ll see if I’ve still any complaints when the curtain drops at the end of Act 2.And I’ll switch to decaf.
I’ve been busy since my wife came home from the hospital (and is doing remarkably better! ), and haven’t been reading the comments.Have Gweedo, Otto and SDM really been banned??? Wow.
It is native american. Kantuck is an shorten word for the Algonquian “Kan-Tuck-Kee” or where Kentucky got it’s name.
Nadie is also Algonquian for “wise”
Nata-Akon means “Expert canoeist” which is quite amusing. I’ve never been on one. The actual tribe is unknown, and there’s evidence it’s mixed from another European language, such as polish or Russian I believe. It is an old family name however. There is another meaning, meaning “story teller” which is more of how I feel now, since I’ve been a writer all my life, and just now starting to learn to write fiction.
“Is it actually true a regular here is responsible for getting Guido suspended?”^^I know what got him suspended… it was a word he used while greeting one of his female friends, that some other woman was offended by…. I won’t repeat the greeting, for obvious reasons

What? That every one of his crimes refers to his name?
That’s not news.

I know how to catch him, too, but with proper immunization that’s not a problem.

Good early morning all. Does the Mayor ever smile? And what’s the deal with her problem holding the phone?

You’re replying to Night-Gaunt49’s comment:
No, he (SDM) isn’t missed except for you.
.You’re allowed your opinion NG49. There are at least a few that beg to differ. I have it from a reliable source that SDM doesn’t hold it against you.

Gotta love it when Tracy gets that grin on his face. Of course he’s figured it out. He’s only the worlds greatest detective!

At a guess, this story was meant as comic relief between the Sweatbox story and the impending MoonMaid story.

Yes, if that is the situation.

YAY! Richard has hacked into the Dick Tracy Comic Strip office computers, and has rewritten the script, making the capture inevitable!

Call up Mayor Armstrong and make demands. Such as forcing the Jumbler to listen to White Zombie at full volume. What punishment is that called?
Why, the “deaf penalty” of course. ;D

Has anyone (besides me) noticed that the smoke coming off Sam’s cancer stick, in the last panel, resembles Sweatbox???

I’m enjoying this story. I don’t quite see why so many people follow a comic just to complain.

I don’t see a Reuben Award in the future for this strip anytime soon. Chester Gould won two in 1959 and 1977 and an Edgar Award in 1980.
