Haven’t they stopped selling it? Even in specialty camera shops?

Kodachrome is no more. Its manufacturing was discontinued in 2009 and its processing ended in 2010. A shame since the picture quality was unsurpassed.

I miss Kodachrome 25. I recently transferred about two thousand slides I took on my two trips up the Alaska Highway in the eighties. Yeah, most of my shots had to be with a tripod, but wow, what saturation and beauty.

    Somebody has to say it:

♪♫Kodachrome You give us those nice bright colors You give us the greens of summers Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, oh yeah! I got a Nikon camera I love to take a photograph So Mama, don’t take my Kodachrome away ♪♫

I like to process my own, so I used Ektachrome and E-6 chemistry.

I must say, that while I ALWAYS admire the artwork that Mr. Brookins employs in his drawings here on “Pluggers”, I especially like the style shown in the drawing and stance of the film seeking fellow today. Good perspective, good stance, good hat, good moustache… the image tells its own story.

I think even most pluggers would go to a camera store now.

Does this mean I can’t get film cartridges for my Kodak Instamatic 100 any more? It’s already been darn near impossible to get the flash bulbs.

Ansel Adams was a trendsetter. He would have beendelighted with digital photography and Photoshop.I did realize an era had ended when I saw the sign on the door of our local drugstore, “We no longer accept film for processing”.

I saw the “ASA 400” and thought to myself, “uh, oh.. there’s gonna be some controversy about THAT!” Right I was, and INTELLIGENT controversy, at that ! Years ago, I had all my ‘worth it’ slides printed out and it cost me the price of 3 scanners and 4 ink cartridges in today’s world.. Who knew that computers were gonna be able to do all THAT??

I used to find the plastic 35mm film containers extremely useful.

Film is a tool, the camera is a tool, the eye is the thing that does the work, and with resolution heading into the mid double digits film is being surpassed. BTW, Fuji still makes film, and in my opninion was better than Kodak

Will we see the day when most of the pictures taken today will disappear into la-la electronic land. Does anyone put an album together anymore??

What’s even as bad is Polaroid film for their instant cameras. You’re a Plugger if you remember the swinger cameras.

Kodak invented digital cameras. They made the bad decision to not pursue it.

There was nothing like KM25 and a solid tripod. Today it’s shoot away at 5+ frames a second and let Photoshop fix it.There was something very meditative about getting it right in the camera.
