    Not being a pundit of anything, maybe someone could answer this for me. People talk about the liberal Hollywood establishment or conservative NRA etc. To me it would seem that people join groups or work in certain fields due to many factors including political views. Could this be the case on why the majority of actors seem to be left of center, or are they afraid that by being too conservative in their public views, the roles will dry up. Off the subject, being Jewish and growing up in Roxbury, yes I like Boston’s Finest, everyone I knew was Jewish, Black or both, 3 Ethiopian families. I didn’t know there where Black people, just friends who had darker skin than me. When I was 12, we moved to Framingham. After a few days, my Mother had to explain to me racism and anti-Semitism (I was very naive). To this day, this 70 year old man does not understand racism, ant-Semitism, anti any religion or for that matter why any one would be a Democrat or Republican.

    start with Bill Clinton, Hillary, Pelosi. God the list is endless. all the Democrats doing the Republican bidding. and don’t forget the big O. Obama is doing the Republican dream list of cutting Social Security and Medicare.

    shows what happens to those who think “in the box.” they can’t see how “selling” out to Wall St. is a bipartisan, both sides do it. ongoing activity.

    no wonder the GOP’s message is stuck. it wants to use only its’ “favorites.”

    @Larry

    I have no answers for you, as I’m at least as clueless as you are on these things, but I am absolutely convinced that there is no understanding racism, anti-Semitism, and all the other “antis.” Seems to me the only way to live is to be pro-everybody. As John Pike (somewhat regular commenter here) regularly declares, we won’t really get anywhere as a nation until we stop fighting each other and unite. We can and should still have a multi-party system, but the rancor and obduracy have to go.

    A political scientist once said that politics is a study of who gets what and how much. By definition, politics is an argument. People need to understand that much at least. This does not mean that we should let tribalism overcome us, however.

    It is a wonder to me that persistent trolls continue to spout their long disproven lies (My gawd! Birtherism still in 2013?). I guess the tinfoil hats really do work – to keep the truth out. .On a vaguely related note, I see from a post by mabrndt on the For Better or For Worse page that Night-Gaunt49 has apparently been banned by GoComics – ?! Since Night-Gaunt49 is a very regular and reasonable contributor here and elsewhere on GoComics, folks may want to drop GoComics a line to speak up for him. After all, if the trolls can go on endlessly and irrelevantly, why shouldn’t valuable contributors be able to post to the comments?

    @Gee Manall Night-Gaunt49 has to do is change his name to something they won’t recognize… say to Night-Gaunt50, unless that’s already taken.happened to me once on an Ubuntu forum. I was banned for life because I accused a moderator of having fascistic tendencies (oh the irony of it all), so I changed my login name to Lazarus.

    Isn’t it really just one party that goes by two names ? You can’t do a good cop, bad cop routine with just one party. Besides, Americans need to think they’re actually a part of the process.

    Couldn’t be any worse than a bunch of rich people whose entire focus centers around enriching themselves…at least a lot of Hollywood people use their celebrity tro help other people…a concept alien to the republican wealthy.

    @Beleck3 – Not sure why everyone blames Republicans for cuts to Social Security, etc. It was LBJ and a Democratic Congress that raided the cookie jar and started spending Social Security in the General Fund.

    The 1875 case was Minor v Happersett.-It EXPLICITLY sets aside the question of the minimum requirements, because it was clear that Mrs. Minor was a citizen under the strictest imaginable standard, so the minimum was not relevant.-The minimum standard to qualify as a citizen was established by US v Wong Kim Ark a few years later. Mr. Wong was ruled to be a citizen by virtue of his birth in the United States, regardless of his parents’ Chinese citizenship.-The Supreme Court has never ruled on the definition of “natural born citizen,” as opposed to “native-born citizen,” but other Federal and State courts have, in decisions over Obama’s eligibility. In all cases, he was ruled to be a natural born citizen for that purpose. Black’s Law Dictionary defines natural born citizen as “A person born within the jurisdiction of a national government.”-These are the facts.
