Iâve been waiting for the word âobjection.â. Neither of these two appear to have adequate barrister skills. Theyâve both been making witness-leading statements that either could have objected to, and delivering monologues that belong in opening & closing arguments. Then again since the whole point of a trial is to determine the extent to which a law has been broken, Jack is right because itâs impossible to determine means, motive and opportunity for a non-existent rule.
I like that! To edify, not punish, To edifyâŠ.to instruct improve spiritually. To improve. To build. I had to look this up to be sure what Jack meant. It is what Aaron means now. This is very important to the whole story and how it will come about. You must be very educated to utilize the most pertinent wording to put the whole mess into motion. I salute you. Blessed Be.
Have a bad feeling that this is all for show anyway, and that the HC has a nasty surprise to end it badly. Allgood is their voice, but only in the smallest sense. Heâ s getting things started, but the HC will drop the hammer.
I think this is the point where Allgood is told (if I may paraphrase from the Army-McCarthy hearnings), âHave you no SHAME sir. At long last. Have you no SHAME?!?!?!â
Isnât it odd: More than one year agoWe learned more of Jacob, and his one-man show.We saw him up close, and did not like the viewAnd dreaded, and talked about, what he would do.A personal marker for me from that timeIt was what brought me out, and the start of my rhymeA day or two after above-linked eventsI started my whimsy here; Iâve been here since. But Jacob Jackrabbit was Hitler-with-earsA personal coward who stirred the mobâs fears(The cowardice weâd learned about from beforeHeâd already shown what weâd come to deplore.)=|====/ Level HeadVote for Endtown 2.0And for Doc Rat, tooVote for Endtown ClassicThe Endtown ForumThe Endtown AuctionThe Endtown Books
I said that. Read my sentence after the one youâve quoted. âJack is right because itâs impossible to determine means, motive and opportunity for a non-existent rule.â
Thereâs something important that still doesnât seem to have registered in Allgoodâs awareness: Heâs arguing towards Lindaâs, Maudeâs and Hollyâs execution.
Iâm rather enjoying this story line â as Level_Head so eloquently pointed out, a while ago we were condemning Jacob for his extremist views on self-acceptance, now heâs the good guy for espousing the same beliefs, while the guy pushing traditional âhumanâ values is vilified. It is the mark of an excellent story teller that we can feel compassion for both sides â to recognize that there ARE two sides, to see that both sides have a point, and to see that neither side is particularly correct. If only government (past, present and future), its critics and its supporters could realize thisâŠ
Itâs hard not to self-identify when you have a tail, hooves, horns, and produce milk by the pail. If it looks like a duck, moves like a duck, and quack likes a duck, then it must beâŠ. a scientific genius.
Hehehe! Some time ago I remember posters here going on about Jake and his ideals. How he was part of this. He was as bad as Allgood.NOW folks are going âGo Jackrabbitâ. We are quick to judge and just as quick to switch sides. One can speak out with their views even when it might seem harsh. It does not mean they would carry it out just talking about it as options. That is a very human thing. Even switching sides like that. The difference between Jake and Allgood is very simple.Jake wants folks to make up their OWN minds about the situations they are in.Allgood wants it FORCED upon you with no choice either way. Both want change one by choice, one by force. The only reason this has turned from rhetoric to actions is the fact that Allgood with the help of a conspiracy have seized control of the governing body. Now instead of rhetoric Allgood is using this new found ability to make changes by force of law instead of spouting off words. Jake never took that route of fixing things instead keeping to the speaking circuits using words not actions to get folks to voluntarily make the changes or ask for the changes. ((I said before Jake was better speaker than Allgood.Iâll bet they went at each other in Debate Class when they were in high school before the war. I think their history goes further back than Endtown. Just thinking)).
I implore those who are embracing the immature ideas of âwhat is evilâ to give it up, as this comic has. People in âEndtwonâ have /reasons/ for doing what they do and itâs exceedingly rare that someone (Allgoodâs squeeze, possibly) is doing it just to witness the suffering. Allgood fears people will degenerate into the animals they think they are; Jack fears that people will crouch behind doors, ashamed of what they are now. Flask knew exactly what the Topsiders were capable of. REASONS, people! And you canât exactly say they are entirely incorrect! Evil, my friends, is the willingness to do ANYTHING, anything at all, to accomplish your goals.
If the High Council is doing anything they are popping Jiffy Pop and enjoying the show. They already know what they are going to do.Just remember this is all a show. What is really going on behind the scenes?Who is controlling the High Council?Who is in command of the Security Forces? We know Velda BUT she could not do it alone.
I will say one thing about Allgood and Jackrabbit. Both are committed to their causes and willing to go the distance.I have seen too many either give up or just give in when the going gets rough.
that is the best point Iâve heard so far, Panda-boy has been saying heâs trying to preserve âhuman valuesâ but our most sacred value is the right to self determination. I mean today a woman faces execution for acting like a cow, tomorrow theyâll be killing gay people.
well I think if they get executed there is no Endtown âŠkinda like in the moviesâŠthe good guys ALWAYS win!!! If they were gone who be our main characters????
It is the same thing the entity told Bender in a Futurama episode when he floated in space with tiny civilizations living on him. He favored one which was the ones he could see. He became God in their eyes. The other group did not see him as much and began to dislike the other side. A great war was fought killing all. There floated Bender confused about what he did. He asked the entity âDid I do right or did I do wrong?âThe entity pointed it this way:Right and Wrong are merely words. What matters is what you do.The same applies here.Good and evil are merely words. What matters is what is done.
I get so much philosophy (I think thatâs it) out of these discussions. There were many great things said today! The one quote, if I had to choose would be " So concerned about morality that he has lost sight of compassion" Thanks Vet.
âOr they could take Jakeâs view, accept that this is the ânew normâ as a result of the ânew fleshâ and go ahead and hold there head up anyway.âWhy arenât they? Why are mutants so embarrassed by what their bodies are doing to them? Surreptitiously throwing eggs away so no one sees what theyâre doing. Producing milk only for people they trust, or making cheese from that milk and hiding it so no one else sees it. Thereâs a level of guilt or refusal to accept byproducts as a natural part of their lives. This has been going on in Endtown for roughly 7 years now. Why is this still an issue for the entire colony?
A couple of posts mention the Scopes trialâŠone thng to keep in mind: donât take âInherit the Windâ as an accurate guide to what went on. When Clarence Darrow questioned William Jennings Bryan, Bryan scored some points along the way. The play, er, makes a monkey of Bryan, which was the political axe the playwrights wanted to grind. (Bryan wanted to examine Darrow but was prevented from doing so.)
" I earned every G-DD^#N one of these grey hairs and Iâm proud of that."
Iâm the same way. I keep having people tell me that Iâm too young to have so much grey hair. My response has always been, âIâve earned every one of them and donât regret the experiences.â
âThe Society for the Preservation of Human Valuesâ THAT"S why!"I donât think the Society is all that far-reaching or well-known. If we look at Dolly, she had the strong âyuckâ reaction at the thought of eating cheese made from Maudeâs milk, but she apparently hadnât heard of Allgood or the Society before. No, I believe that mutants on the whole still view their edible byproducts to be an embarrassing side effect of the mutation that theyâre subconsciously still trying to deny. It runs deeper than just having a âprofessional scoldâ on the fringes of peopleâs awareness.
People have only had seven years to adjust to their new selves. Wally had been a mutant for only six years when he met Holly and was still having trouble adjusting to going from a medium sized human to a three foot tall anthro feline. If it werenât for Holly heâd probably still be struggling. Some lucky people like Holly have made a fairly smooth transition and others, not so much. Thus people are still freaked out by the notion of some individuals producing milk and eggs. It might require a generation or two before folks become nonchalant about other people producing milk and eggs. Now that I think about it, Iâm surprised that Linda adjusted to the idea so quickly. That says a lot about whatever she had to eat as a Topsider.
Two legs good.Four legs bad.Allgood all bad.Mark my words. In two weeks from now, Mr Neathery will probably have me in tears over Octavius Allgood and the noble and wonderful things he does, considering the terrible struggles he has had to face.

Polarization is what Endtown is about, and Neathery handles the analysis perfectly.
