Sometimes we’re just mad about something that has nothing to do with the man in the house…and some women will tell you what they are mad about, I never keep my man in the dark about that…
I’ve encountered that behavior from men waaay more than I’ve ever done it.
I hate games, and I refuse to play. I tell people everything, even when I shouldn’t, I guess…and then I forget about it.
Men say they want that but turn out to prefer coyness and guessing games…. I remember telling an ex he remembered my life better than I did, cos he had a mental list of everything I ever did wrong.
Both my grandmother and my late husband used to play the “I’m angery and if you can’t figure out why, I’m not going to tell you” game. I finally told the late and unlamented that HE didn’t KNOW why he was angry, and I couldn’t be bothered figuring it out for him. Gardenwitch is correct – he thrived on the conflict, so the game stopped.
: ) Last time I remember seeing those anger games was from girls in the third grade. Thank goodness I have no one in my life who thrives on that silliness! (Hubby and I just celebrated our happy 36th!)
That’s not an “experienced husband,” that’s a wimp running off to hide. Not a nice trait in a partner. If he thinks he did something to upset her, he needs to face her and talk. It might not even be about him. Didn’t he learn as a kid that hiding makes things worse. How hard would it be to go up behind her, but his hands on her shoulders and ask, “Honey, it looks like something’s bothering you. Can I help?”
If a comment starts out like “women are __” or “men are,” you can be sure that the comment is an overgeneralization. Moodiness is not exclusive to one sex. Borderline personality disorder (labeled as "emotionally unstable personality disorder, borderline type " by the International Classification of Diseases #10 [ICD10]) affects males and females alike). One reason I was attracted to my husband was that there was no games playing. He was just folks. He did have his moods, but he wasn’t secretive about the causes. I hope that I don’t play games, either. Au contraries, we are inclined to have screechouts that scare the populace, then go on as though nothing has happened. My mom was game-free, also. Regarding moodiness, we did tiptoe around one of our kids to avoid setting the person off – this individual has mellowed quite a bit over the years, however. When I was young my mom and I had to tiptoe around the powder-keggy man of the house.
Being married to the right person > being single > being married to the wrong person..Now I will concede that it is quite likely that there is no “right” person for you, which would certainly explain why you are so bitter.

I seldom laff at the comments, but that one had me wiping my eyes and am STILL at it after a trip to the sink for some cold water on the face !! Whooh !!
If we had even a slight clue about what we’re fighting about, maybe we could resolve some of these oh so important issues. However, whatever we think it is; it isn’t. No matter what we think it is.

And they NEVER ever forget it either. 20 years later they’ll bring it, for the umpteenth time.

At first I misread this as Flight or Fight; but the cartoon is correct.

I don’t play those games but there is always something for them to get mad about. Maybe they like conflict.

If she’s freaking out, hug her and give her chocolate. If she’s growling, toss the chocolate from a safe distance.

Arlo looks like the little boy who did something wrong, and went and sat in the corner before being told to.

Alright, Arlo, what did you do on your first date with your future wife that you shouldn’t have done? Other than looking at that other girl?

who is this “they” everyone is talking about? Everyone’s different. Don’t bunch men or women into categories.

I heard this line in a movie once:
“Women don’t know what they want, but they reserve the right to get mad when they dont get it.”
