Transcript:
Pig: What are you doing? Rat: I'm about to crush this ant. Pig: Why? Rat: He's small. He's not like me. And he's devoid of any intellectual, artistic, or cultural value. Ant: "To be or not to be, that is the question... whether 'tis nobler to--" Rat: Shakespeare bores me.

Calvin had a plate of some disgusting-looking meal that recited that “Hamlet” quote the whole way through. After it was done, a pause. Then the pause was broken by it singing “Feelings”… until Calvin ate it as soon as it began to make it stop.

the ant may not have suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, but he sure suffered the wrath of rat’s foot!

An ant is not an individual – it is only part of the colony and can easily be replaced by the egg-laying queen. It’s the colony that is the being.

Shouldn’t Pig be the one quoting from Hamlet?!?

To paraphrase – the rat squashes in jest, but the ant dies in earnest.

On one job, I sometimes had to sweep the sidewalks and there were always ant hills popping up. I would sweep up every other of them, leaving ants to wonder why their neighbors were destroyed and not them. I figured it would make them believe in life just being random and there was no god…

In the fifth pane, an even larger foot comes down, because the owner of the foot thinks that both of them are small and insignificant.

@finale—I wonder if Pig is one of the folks who thinks Shakespeare’s plays were actually written by Sir Francis Bacon…
Carl Rennhack Premium Member over 11 years ago
@Danke—Shakespeare wanted to call that play, “Julius, Grab That Woman NOW!” but his editor made him shorten it to “Julius, Seize Her!”
