Iāve received several emails from runar over the years. I know his real name, his address and his telephone numberā¦ however, I donāt think it would be appropriate for me to contact him directly. I sent him an email recently, but it bounced back. Iām not sure what to do now.

I donāt think that an expression of concern is ever wrong. We are rather worried about him.
I called runar. His phone rang and rang.. but I did manage to leave an incoherently mushy voice message. I told him how concerned we are about him. I also said that we all miss him terribly. Iām not sure what else I can do.
At the very least, we can leave him messages hereā¦

You did your best. Heās knows that weāre concerned about him. Thanks for calling him.
I am here, and I thank you all for your concern. I fell behind in keeping up with my postings, then took ill with respiratory problems - Iām asthmatic, and changes in the weather make things even worse. Once I got so far behind in keeping track of things, the prospect of keeping up became so much more daunting that every day made it even harder to think about making up for lost time. When Theresa called me today, I was at the doctorās finding out why Iām still sick, and I would gladly give up a prescription to talk to her. Iāll try to post, but I canāt guaranteee that Iāll be up to my usual scintillating wit (ha!). It will also take me a while to pick up on the past monthās cartoons and postings - for example, reading yesterdayās comments, I apprecieate what Theresa said about how she preferred to be addressed. I always called my wife āSandraā, and was always surprised to hear others call her āSandyā. By the way, itās entirely possible that the email address Theresa has for me is obsolete; I changed ISPs a while ago.

As I recall dissecting a starfish in some biology class once, I donāt recall seeing one. But then, maybe it was a girl starfish.

If you canāt grow one, buy a kit and make one. (I hope I helped somebody out with a last-time gift idea!)

I thought it had been about a month. I hope that he is all right. I like his comments, and miss them.

Buyer beware! Inspect your bleeep kit before you buy it. Sometimes there are missing or duplicate parts.

There are many friends here and some belovĆ©d enemies. Itās odd to think that one can acquire both a reputation and a following simply by commenting on othersā work, but, on the other hand, some of my most admired writers have been critics - think Dorothy Parker, Ambrose Bierce and Abraham Stoker. Thank you all, and I will return soon.

nice to see you back runar.
margueritem about 16 years ago
Runar, we have missed you. I thank Teresa for calling you today. Ambrose bierce, my absolute favorite curmudgeon!
runar about 16 years ago
I think Ambrose would not only approve of āFrogApplauseā, but he would also approve of calling it āOil Of Dogā!
patdugan about 16 years ago
Ah, male delusions. No doubt he thinks we would notice the difference. ;-)
