She knew about the remarriage when she went looking for Sparkle and zapped her. Probably knew when she smashed the gravestone and visited Honeymoon. So she’s pretending to have just realized it now.

(Dueling Banjos in the background).What we have here is a failure to communicate!.With only three panels a day, six on Sunday, that’s 24 panels a week. And, from the looks of it, a lot of that communication must be going on between the panels!.Good news: Tracy is planning a trap for Hy Pressure. Bad news: Tracy is not part of a trap for the new, improved mysterious Ghote in Diet’s office. Smith just got moved up a notch in my hierarchy as far as someone who may be meeting his maker, and pretty soon..And why not? From the looks of it, Mike and Joe have made the Moon Maid a permanent character. But they have stripped her of almost everything that went with her – moon colonies, her moon family, not to mention her earth family. Wiping out Smith would be a good pre-emptive strike against any and all future trips to the moon..As for Ghote, I consider the possibility that he’s already dead! The Ghote in Diet’s office is totally inconsistent with the Ghote who was last seen with Sail and Moon Unit. Hence, my speculation yesterday that Ghote is the real clone – an oxymoron if I ever saw one!.As for Mysta, at the moment, it appears that Tracy believes Mysta. And we’ve not been given much evidence, let alone any credible evidence, to sustain any of the clone theories out there. (For sake of simplicity, I will consider all the didn’t-survive-the-car-bomb theories as the “clone” theory) However, we still don’t know how she survived the car bomb, if that is indeed Mike and Joe’s final answer..However, if Ghote is a clone and Mysta is not, that is one of the self-contradictory points that caused me to reconsider my speculations yesterday..And now, the failure to communicate..To maintain suspense, so much obfuscation has been added to the story that there are times that I wonder whether even Mike and Joe can keep all their stories straight! Witness the well documented discrepancy on Sail and Ghote’s claims as to whether Mysta is a clone!.On the other hand, if Mysta had been held prisoner, as it appears she has been, the entire time she was under the doctors’ care, that would be another reason she didn’t know that Sparkle and Junior had gotten married during the “time that (she) was…gone.”.And if she has relayed this to Tracy, between the panels, this might explain his comments, “Any animosity between you and Sparkle?”.Women I have known seem to get really bent out of shape if they think their husband is having an affair. And now, it’s beginning to appear that this is what happened to Mysta..I have used the words before, “explainable, but not excusable,” to describe many of Mysta’s actions. I now apply it to the Sparkle Zap..Clearly, she will never live it down – especially if it ever comes to light – which, for the time being, Mike and Joe have conveniently allowed not to happen. But clearly, someday, it will have to be dealt with..In the meantime, I’m starting to think, maybe all of us, myself included, have been too hard on the Moon Maid..What she appears to be guilty of is being a human being, with all the frailties and faults that reside in all of us..Which is much more than I can say for Doctors Tim Sail, Zy Ghote, and the Moon Unit.

The time spent on the farm with Sparkle seems to have mellowed Mysta. She’s growing as a character.

There was a question from Ken in Ohio yesterday regarding the Dick Tracy Magazine et. al. I’ve been getting the reprints for about 10— 12 years, so long I forget how I learned of the origin. Tracy was and is available through DT Magazine and at one time through a magazine called The Missing Years. SPEC Productions, available on the net does the reprints, and all back issues are still offered. You might check the site out. It reprints a myriad of old strips from the “Golden Age.”

@Stagger Lee. Thanks for the link. I pre-read DT at AzCentral along with the Phantom and Mandrake at midnight but GoComics is what I consider ‘the official DT site!’

I note that there are several people who consider Mysta to be a criminal. Two who come to mind are MikeyJ and tsull2121, but I’m sure there are others..That was something I feared when Mysta was re-introduced, that she would be used as a criminal. And the Sparkle Zap sure seemed like it was going to take us there….Since then, something else I have considered about the Sparkle Zap: This was the vehicle to get Mysta out of Junior’s life, once and for all, even if Mysta returns to the strip as a regular!.In fact, thinking about it, as illogical as the move appeared when it first appeared, it now looks more like the proverbial “plot device” to truly end Mysta and Junior’s marriage..So, tsull2121, don’t worry. Your wedding photo of Junior and Sparkle is safe; you have nothing to fear from Mysta..What remains to be seen now is what Mike and Joe intend to do with Mysta now that it is clear that she will no longer be Tracy’s daughter-in-law.

And I really like what RightWingMoron has to say about forgiveness..I suppose we’re at about the end of this story; probably time for some of that to start kicking in..Welcome back, Mysta the Moon Maid!

Well, I see GoComics silently resolved whatever the issue was that kept them from updating at the usual time [midnight CDT] or for as long thereafter as I was still awake—which is why I am posting so late today. I do not trust this “Moon Maid.” I hope Tracy (and the MCU) keep a close eye on her from now on, until this case is resolved.

Perhaps MM will learn that in additon to the gas wells, the Wheatons have the las remaining cache of giant escargot on earth!

Why would DT have Sparkle “Gertie” and MoonMaid/Mysta “Mindy” return to the farm when Hy Pressure had never even MET them? Kind of a forced plot twist here that seems a bit too forced. It was enough that they both ended up at the Wheaton farm together to begin with (that was a big enough reach in the first place) but why on earth would Hy Pressure care if they were there or not. They could easily have both gone out grocery shopping or running errands, not exactly the stuff to concern Hy Pressure. No, I fear that we are seeing the scene set up for one of them to get shot by that goon who was waving from the road.Lastly, where the hell is Junior Tracy in all of this? Don’t you think he’d be present at the police station to see his wife?Seems odd. Very odd.Mind you, I think this storyline is one of the best and I REALLY want Moon Maid Mysta to be a regular. Sadly, I fear they might kill her off.
