They’ve earned a nice little vacation, but somehow, I think that it won’t turn out that way.

Tracy the Sailor Man! I doubt we’ll see Popeye, but I think it’s almost a certainty that this little vacation is going to get cut short by gang warfare back in the city. There could be trouble by the lake, too. Trouble seems to find Tracy wherever he goes. Hopefully, we’ll get a little “personal time” with Dick and Tess before things get out of hand. At least I didn’t see any mention of Dick Tracy in those “marked for death” contracts yesterday (but you can never be too sure that you’re safe when you’re DT).

Last time I remember Dick and Tess going on vacation was 2005 (starting about May 16) and they both got shot at, there was a dead body, etc. Hopefully, there’s been a vacation since.

Hmmm, it’s almost Halloween so perhaps it may be dangerous. Could that be Camp Crystal Lake perhaps? Also, R.I.P. Lou Reed. Take a walk on the wild side, on the other side. You had real guts, writing how you did and you will be missed. He was 71.

Ah! An isolated lakeside cabin, an ominous view from the lake, and the city’s Chief of Detectives and his wife vacationing alone whilst rival master-criminals are on the verge of a bloody rampage! What could possibly go wrong?

Great color! I like to compare the Dick Tracy strips in their various color renditions. I not only save the GoComics DT every day, but also the one from Comics Kingdom, where the color is a bit different. And I also save the black-and-white version from the Houston Chronicle. Today I prefer the color because of the autumn scene. In the B&W version I completely missed the falling leaves.

I guess we’ll never know the specific details about how Mysta can be tracked by Drs Gote and Sail. So be it, on with the next story.

As others have noted, Tracy’s vacations don’t usually go too well for him or his family. Tess and Bonnie Braids were being driven back from a trip to “the North Woods” when they ran into Crewy Lou and almost lost Bonnie. Their own honeymoon was ruined by Wormy while they were “up in the mountains”. Tracy and Bonnie and Sparkle were taking Sam’s boat for a spin around the lake when Tonsils shot Tracy, and the three were almost lost. One time, Tracy and Sam were planning a vacation with their families together, but they were called back before they even got out of town! It seems a couple of kids had found a skeleton in a bridge, put there by Oodles. Even the big little book “Dick Tracy meets Night Crawler” , which is not strictly “canon”, has Tracy running into trouble on vacation. This can’t be good.

I am looking forward to seeing a little more of the comic strip’s First Lady, Tess Trueheart Tracy. Perhaps Bonnie Braids is waiting for them? Going to enjoy this story.

stilldamatt, they (team tracy) were still working under the shortened storyline rule during those stories…thats why they had the “sweatbox endings”.

    |tho i agree that the moon maid lite “saga” was severely lacking.

at least the mr crime story had a good wrap-up to it.. i think thats the last one i remember that tied everything up nicely .

@Still Da Man! Junior’s hair was always that way and I think he just can’t do a thing with it, even if he wants to.

@cheapskate0 So far, we have a single contract killer hired, which doesn’t in itself imply open war, but I doubt it will stay calm very long.

@JPuzzleWhiz I loved your pun. Very well done.

@davidf42 I agree. I love the falling leaves. I notice there are no coloured trees visible in the background, but that makes the leaves in the foreground stand out better. I do like the fact that the colourist here uses colour to highlight and subdue parts of the scene, even if his colour choices are often inconsistent.
