For those who read both this and Pearls Before Swine, both have a fish throwing joke.

Kind of curious what the original spell was supposed to do.

It translates to: “Fisherman large over, upon you”

I love the new latinate Harry Potterish incantations (some real Latin mixed in with some made-up pseudo-Latin), but didn’t the Wiz used to have a different routine back in the day when the father was still drawing — I seem to remember he would jump up and down and say stuff like “Frimmin’ on the Frim Fram, Zoppin’ on the Zatz” and “Alakazot”. That was pretty funny, too.

Also, I remember it went through a long period in the 1980’s and 1990’s when the strip focused heavily on King Fink, and we almost never saw the Wizard. A reaction to anti-supernaturalism prevalent in conservative culture in the 1980’s, maybe?
