What is really making this story GREAT is a totally thumbs up choice Mike made to not start any new threads or have any distractions in it, leaving us with a “let’s see, we’re back now to….let’s see, the walls were closing in, that’s right…”feeling. Instead, the suspense just builds and builds on top of each panel…..you just can’t wait to the next day’s strip! The other things have worked before, but wouldn’t of here…….again, superb decision!!!
If it IS cement, how fresh is it… since no one’s ever made it to the third door before? (And if it’s that tired old plot device of quicksand, the human body is more buoyant in that stuff than in water, as per “Mythbusters.”)
Where’s SDM? Can’t find him when you want him…. Anyway, when he bubbles to the surface, would someone please pass along my half-Merry Christmas to him (he says he’s half Jewish) and a full Happy New Year. Thanks, all! And the same to each of you!
Perhaps there is ANOTHER trap embedded in the cement??? Ummmm….Still Da Man, I imagine if his cane kept the spikes from hitting him, he was just able to slide out in the remaining space? ….and there are walls and a ceiling to aid his crossing as well; I’ve heard rappelling gear in mandatory police equipment as well, lol
So when he clears trap # 3 Abner should give him the same choice he gave BB Eyes; maybe Dick would say “why the heck not? I don’t need to go through this crap every day, and the Blackhearts pay better anyways” ha ha
Someone beat me to it… Cement would have to be poured fresh for each victim. It is a LOT of hard, noisy work to break it all up and haul it out to reset each time…
I had a root canal done today and I’m still in pain now, so I know how you feel. I’m pretty sure my Jewish dentist was off for Christmas but the pain was gone then anyway because the end of the root had died.

Maybe this will be where the Famous Yellow Raincoat does service as a short-term bridge over troublesome concrete?

Watching “COPS” for the first time in quite awhile tonight. Tracy is a lot more fun.

The solution to quicksand is you can always swim it! (courtesy of an old Denny O’Neil issue of Daredevil)

A gigantic pair of cement overshoes!

He is going to use his hat and coat as ‘stepping stones’.They will stick to the concrete. His feet won’t.

Here’s concrete evidence that Kadaver is wanting Tracy dead.

Everyone assuming that the depth of the cement is less than 4 or 5 foot deep; I’m thinking it’s more like 10 or 20 feet…
steveyorkdesigns almost 11 years ago
On, no, and here he is without a stick to write his initials!
atomicdog almost 11 years ago
As difficult as pouring cement is, Kadaver wouldn’t have done it until it was obvious that Tracy would survive the second trap.
What is also obvious that Kadaver will break his word and try to kill Tracy when he survives the third one.
atomicdog almost 11 years ago
Remember “GRIIND!” “CHNK!” “He broke the trap!”? The gears broke and he just pushed the walls apart.

Abner is trying to cement his relationship with Dick, but I’m sure Tracy has a concrete plan to foil Kadaver.

Not to be a picker of nits but it’s actually freshly poured concrete of which cement is an ingredient. I was just reminded of that on This Old House

Maybe Tracy will use the same trick as the basilisk lizard
‘Jesus Lizard,’ Basilisk, Runs On Water
and then there is this Brazilian contribution (the good stuff starts 1:10 minutes in)
