And who says that Crystal and Knute didn’t kiss already at the New Year’s Dance?… Could be she is a bit more discreet about when and how she kisses… or maybe they kissed at other times, “in between panels” around that time or another…. some people are couples on the “down low”, and some are couples that “commit” to being this, but don’t go around ‘broadcasting’ it (different from the DL, where they could be denying it), or could be friends that have shared a peck or smooch every now and then, but never “made it official”….

Don’t get snarky when others state that there is gender equality to be considered, when it comes to the use of a facility. That Les is a peripheral and labeled “bad” character in this strip is analogous to my scaring the pigeons away from the birdfeeder because I prefer that the cardinals eat there.

Crystal hoped she could quickly use an empty toilet without bothering anyone else..That does not make her selfish and evil.. When she asked Knute to watch for her, she could very well have meant for him to warn HER not to impede others..When Knute asked Leslie to wait a sec, he was requesting an indulgence most humans would have granted..When the response was “sounds like fun” rather than “okay, no sweat” or “sorry, this can’t wait”, that probably sounded threatening..While we KNOW Leslie wouldnever do anything wrong and is too powerful to stop if he does, Knute responded as best he could to a perceived threat..

The EVIL, SELFISH acts of Crystal and Knute have not managed yet to set them on the same ethical level as sweet little Leslie even if he had an UNALIENABLE RIGHT to always use any facility with a stick figure of a male on it.. Nonetheless, if you believe Knute and Crystal have not yet been sufficiently punished for their sins, perhaps you can find joy in imagining Knute dying of internal injuries such as finished off Harry Houdini and Crystal being infected with a flesh-eating bacterium Knute missed and which will eat off both legs, her right arm, lips and left ear..Surely you aren’t THAT offended by Crystal and Knute’s actions?

You are also thinking Crystal wanted to “take over a public restroom” also assumes that was her intent. She wanted — nay NEEDED — to use the facilities of an empty room..I just happen to be blessed with comic-character ESP, so only I know her TRUE thoughts. She was on the verge of an explosive discharge which would have tied up a Hazardous Materials team for the rest of the day and shut down the school for two weeks..At great personal risk and against her delicate sensibilities, she braved No Woman’s Land to protect her fellow students and all others within a three block radius..Her only other concern was for those others who might succumb to the gaseous releases. Knute joined her in attempting to protect others, even misunderstood Leslie..In fact it was the smell which actually drove Leslie away and left Knute stupefied on the floor, gasping for REAL air.

@seismic-2 and @ReallyBad — You seem to think nobody should ever “take over” the restroom.

It’s far more common — and appropriate — than you might imagine. As I noted yesterday, it happens whenever the cleaning people are in there.

But it also happens exactly as shown in the strip here: public buildings NEED more restrooms/stalls for women than men. I’ve often seen exactly this scenario take place, where the men’s room is empty while the women’s is full.

I sure hope you would not be as boorish as Leslie in real life when you encounter this scenario. It will likely happen to you some day.

    Peace.

“Courtesy” would dictate that Crystal put the needs of the many (all the male students who needed access to “their” restroom) above the needs of the few (apparently only herself, since no other girls made a similar request of Knute). Taking a public restroom for your private use is rude, period.

I would think that there is a janitorial closet near every bathroom in the school, so that one would not have to transport the cleaning equipment very far. Just common sense.^Not all bathrooms are near one…. especially if it’s a place with a smaller number of restrooms…. – The original campus of the school that my wife works at (and I have volunteered for) has a few bathrooms on two floors, but only one utility area for cleaning supplies, etc… it’s near the bathroom on the east end, but one has to walk across to the west end of the building for the other bathroom, or go downstairs to the ones on the lower level… – Some public buildings/schools have them around the corner from various ones… and some will have one in each different wings/buildings, one for each set of bathrooms there… – In these cases, one has to plan their cleaning routes accordingly, to make sure to get to each room when it’s time to clean… – As a Health Information Clerk, I’ve had to travel to different parts of the different buildings in the hospital, and have come to notice pretty much the same thing… – It all depends on how new/old the building is, the “original purpose” of the previous design (especially if it was converted from a building for one purpose to another, like from an old warehouse to a school, etc.), and how they went forward with any remodeling/renovations (if applicable)…

He needs help learning in the way that Gunther gets good grades in (which is what gets pushed in schools)…. the learning of “how to cram a bunch of knowledge into your skull”, but he is smart in ways that Gunther is not…. the two smarts are “different fruits”. You can’t compare them. He’s not “book smart”. He doesn’t know the capital of Ohio. But again, he knows things that Gunther (and maybe some others) don’t. And the only hot guys are Luann-love interests. Aaron Hill, Miguel, Stuart, Ben, Quill. The sole exception is TJ, who is definitely hot, but unattached. TJ, as I’ve said before, can’t be shown hitting on the underage girls in the strip, as he’s an adult. In the same vein, the adult hotties Stuart and Ben didn’t return Luann’s affections, as well they shouldn’t have. Oh, and there was Zane, Bernice’s love interest. This is the only exception to the adult-underage girl relationship, but it was short-lived and Zane cut it off—again, as well he should have, given how Bernice was going off the deep end over him.

The book showed him being able to do physics, yet he was unable to do “craft”, etc… – He was slow in learning, which made him “just below average intelligence”… but he was still functional in society…

And this from the hyperlink included in what you are referring to, also from Wikipedia:

Intellectual disability (ID) or general learning disability is a generalized disorder appearing before adulthood, characterized by significantly impaired cognitive functioning and deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors. Intellectual disability is also known as mental retardation (MR), although this older term is being used less frequently.12 It was historically defined as an intelligence quotient score under 70. Once focused almost entirely on cognition, the definition now includes both a component relating to mental functioning and one relating to individuals’ functional skills in their environment. As a result, a person with an unusually low IQ may not be considered intellectually disabled. Intellectual disability is subdivided into syndromic intellectual disability, in which intellectual deficits associated with other medical and behavioral signs and symptoms are present, and non-syndromic intellectual disability, in which intellectual deficits appear without other abnormalities.

Forrest Gump took delight in reading children’s books (he carried his copy of “Curious George” around with him), and when he watched a kid’s program on TV with his son, they both appreciated it the same. Ox’s delight in wearing a paper hat that Ann notes is intended for children shows that he too approaches the world from a child-like perspective. That doesn’t mean that they can’t function in an adult world, just that they do so as “old children”.

I put it in bold up there, for you… it’s right there…. – And the point of the movie and the book were both different… and the point of the movie centered on other things, though he was the central character….. – But as I just said to Seismic, I say the same to you…

And I didn’t learn that…. that scene just was forgotten to me (one where such morals I don’t agree with, either)…it is also inconsequential to proving or disproving anything, in the sense that the point was that it was a time when people disallowed on the basis of anything they perceived as “weak”, or “not like them”…

(As I answered you in yesterday’s comments section.) I didn’t say anything about Ox beating up on Les — and I suspect he wouldn’t have to. It seems to me that Ox has handled these situations without violence in the comic before. In fact, I think the whole concept of “Ox” is that situations can be handled without violence — even when you’re big enough to be a real bully.

I thought the bran/brawn substitution was fun because bran fit so well..

All people are mentally challenged some way or other. My brain used to shut down near miniskirts and plunging necklines.

At least near perfect memory means I can still enjoy anew each mental shutdown. Cause

Remember how folks used to forcibly sterilize the mentally challenged? They also locked them up in insane assylums if they started to be confused.Turns out it is unconstitutional.

At or below two standard deviations below the mean intelligence for mental retardation.

Further there are over twenty recognized forms of intelligence. Tests measure five to seven of those types.People can be below average in some and above average in others.Hence SLD, Specific Learning Disabilities
