So happy to see MARY PERKINS back. I was wondering if we had already seen the last of her. I hope she remains through out this entire story. Love the artwork in today’s strip! NICE JOB!
Reminds me of the time I watched hyena’s eating their lunch at the zoo. Eccch. If Lena gets to chomp on Mr. Summer Stock, it’s going to be very, very messy.
Presumably Mary Perkins (smarter than she lets on, at least to Vitamin) has recognized Miles Mycroft in the rôle of Vitamin in the rôle of cowering Video Ranger. But what she does not, indeed, cannot, yet know is that MIles is even now being processed into hyena chow by the more wily-than-he-looks Silver Nitrate and his sister-accomplice, Sprocket Nitrate. Can Dick Tracy save the day for Vitamin Flintheart, the vain old thespian?Well, we all know the answer to that one….
Mary moved on from Summer Stock to Broadway, and is currently in rehearsals at the Patterson Playhouse. Miles moved on from Summer Stock and is currently in the belly of the beast.
For the most part, I have enjoyed the various crossovers that Team Tracy has slipped into this strip. This is the first time that a crossover character has figured so directly into the story. All of the others were little cameos, with Tracy getting one bit of information from them. This story with Mary is very cool.I did read somewhere that Team Tracy was planning to use Orphan Annie in a more elaborate way at some future point, but I don’t know if that was hopeful speculation on the part of a fan, or an actual promise from Mike. That would be very interesting, since Chester Gould and Harold Gray were close friends.
Noel Neill first played Lois Lane in the 1948 serial Superman opposite Kirk Alyn as Superman. She wore her hair longer in the serial and had elaborate hats in the serial, much like the character did in the comics. Her hair was shorter and heavily permed in the TV series, and the character in the comics followed that hair style (and kept it well into the 1960s). Neill appeared in a cameo in the Superman movie with Christopher Reeve as the mother of little girl Lois Lane in the scene on the train. Lois’s father was played by Kirk Alyn.

Alas, Mary, if you refer to the actor playing Vitami, I’m afraid he’s no more available!

Mary is on the job! Did she actually recognize the it wasn’t really Vitamin in the movie?
gouldstandard almost 11 years ago
Like, why didn’t she inform Vitamin himself of this actor, duhhhh?

There’s no doubt Mary is the brightest light on the tree. Good morning, all. The MCU needs to keep her phone number!

Good catch, Mary! If you ever decide to get out of acting, you might have a future in the MCU!

Good looking out for Vitamin, Mary. He’s too old and arrogant to recognize he’s about to be scammed!
