2 cats, both DSH. One all black and part siamese. The other, tuxedo cat. The part siamese is named Sebastian and I got him at 4 months at the petstore. No one wanted him because he was a black cat AND part siamese. I’ve had one before named Ash (he was grey, but he wasn’t named Ash because of that, but named after my ex’s favorite movie character Ash from the origianl Evil Dead movies) and it took Sebastian a long time to find his Voice. Vlad (long a sound, like laud), the black and white, his nick name is “spider cat” because he’s the only cat I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few) that will climb screens. When I had Ash, and his sister Natasha, they both fought over who got my lap, no matter the weather. Vlad and Sebastian, not so much. But they will sleep on both sides of my pillow. Vlad has one corner, Sebastian, the other. They don’t snuggle so much, but they do warm up the bed. But before we go to bed, every one brushes teeth. Vlad will go and sit on the toilet with no fuss or muss. Sebasitan, let’s just say it took a few years to convince him. :-) But now he’s the one to remind me of when it’s time to brush teeth. Especially on Friday night, he bugs me and bugs me until I brush teeth. Once those two get their teeth brushed, they get to drink out of mama’s cup. that’s their treat.
Hubby throws off so much body heat he can actually raise the temp in a room. I’m curled up under the comforter and he’s tossed everything aside except the top sheet. There’s some sort of cosmic rule about temps and sleeping partners.
We have the best cat who does a fabulous job of warming our laps.
I taught it from a kitten to NEVER be on our bed. Nothing against those who like it, but IMHO, animals don’t belong on a bed. Or the kitchen counter. ;-)
Interesting – is my household the only one that is the opposite of everyone else? I sleep with just a cotton sheet and my husband has a sheet, 2 regular blankets and the electric blanket (turned onto med. high) and the cat.
We have a king bed, but I have a single electric blanket on my side. Spouse can barely stand a sheet, even in winter. We also have two dogs plus one of the three cats on board. I’m usually quite comfy.

Canine equal time: two Pomeranians plus one mutt Terrier equals winter warmth as well (and a crowded full-size bed)!

My wife sleeps in her Queen size bed with a comforter and 3 cats. I sleep on an army cot with a sleeping bag. We’re all happy.

Have you taught any of your kitties to clean out the fridge? That’s what I’d want mine to do, if I had any!

I love stories like that. My Siamese “Lil’ Missie” got out one day and ran away from home. I still miss her.

It only takes one Great Dane in the middle of the bed to warm two people.
K M almost 11 years ago
This is why you get a comforter that spans the entire width of the bed, as this one obviously does not.
