AHah! I was wondering about that. The ’mutes seem extra robust (and my fannish fiction would make a point about that) and it may also explain part of the treatment of the immunes.
We want food and weapons. And no weapons that will rat us out or fail to work against TopSiders. PreWar food, no butchered mutants or Typhoid Marys. DOL1 must have been correct yesterday about Jim and Sarah being spies if these two can offer food and weapons in exchange for information. Of course, I haven’t seen this food and weapons and beads. I suspect TopSiders have come down with a plague they do not know how to fix. More and more of them may have been going bonkers like Flask. Yeah, I wouldn’t mind another Flaskback if we get to see her pre-mutation. We may not even get a look at these two pre-mutation. JusSayin
So how come all those little dustpiles aren’t unnaturally pulling themselves back together? They are obviously just playing dead so the TSers won’t learn the big secret. NOT!
I knew this seemed really weird yesterday. I just didn’t know my weird feeling meant healing factors. Seriously, how does the upper levels of TS society not know how this stuff works? Space satellites, that’s easy; figuring out sleeping + mutation, NOT EASY.

Taking a brief look through the “Doc Chase” scenes…he did seem to be treating a lot of injuries, but no definite illnesses, unless I missed something. Maybe there is something to the notion that anthro mutants don’t suffer from regular diseses. (One would think the doc’s main problem would be stomach problems from the bean diet.)#One other thing comes to mind. What are Wally, Holly, and all of them called? “Anthros?” “Mutants?” I’ve been using both. Are the terms interchangeable or does one refer to a subgroup of the other? Some other explanation? Is there some term I’ve missed or forgotten?
I would suspect Topsiders do develop shall we say deficiencies that would be normal. Normal cancers, diabetes, and other human type diseases. What if you were a Topsider and developed one of these diseases lets say incurable. You are now no longer perfect genetically so by Topsider Rules you would be an outcast and more than likely given the option of leaving sans nothing or death by other means. I would imagine anything that would make you non perfect would be a basis for destruction. I would guess Sarah has something wrong with her so was scheduled for termination. Jim loves her and they agreed to leave together. Now this self ability to heal is interesting. It makes it even more horrific to think that Topsiders may have deliberately injured an anthro to see how fast they heal or infect them to see if they can defeat an illness. It reminds me of a certain NAZI doctor who went about doing things like this.Of course Wally is an engineer and can build them a bridge or such but I would wager check Holly’s arm. If she is now healed….??
You know they wouldn’t be spies if they actually became anthro’s because the other TS’s would not accept them back period, its just how they are, so hanging on this story line
For six or seven years, Topsiders have lived inside their own personal bubbles for fear of contamination. They may not have needed them for anything other than the mutagen, but seven years inside may have destroyed their own natural immunity. Their immune systems could have atrophied with the suits filtering out everything. They may not be able to heal at all any more. Their bubbles have turned them all into bubble-boys.
Okay, let’s try this again since there’s no response since I posted this response thismorning….-“Food? Other than beans? The only other beings besides them that had food (other than beans) was Aaron Marx. Remember his traveling zeppelin?”
Recovery abilities? Maybe I missed something but I don’t remember seeing anyone dancing out of the hospital during the Endtown Riots. Here’s something else I wonder if anyone might have thought about. Could there just maybe a fifth column within the TSers? A breakaway group bychance?
Hi, Finally I have a running computer! This last little bit has had lots of humour. been able to read it sometimes. Holly must be really stressed out. Looking forward to what Wally says or does.this is a refurbished (somewhAT) laptop.A whole new thing trying to navigate with a small touchhpad. Also it’s a Dell, not an Apple.
No offense to any I failed to mention in my previous acknowledgements of Endtown’s, and Aaron’s, supporters since Endtown went online. I am rather a latecomer to the supporters, and my support has mostly been encouragement.
I owe so many apologies for not mentioning them earlier, and of course Aaron’s family and people deserve gratitude. I left out Level_Head!. I apologise for that oversight, and look forward to Wolf’s health to improve, and thank Level_Head for promoting Endtown and Doc Rat, and for keeping Doc Rat online while he has absented himself here, due to time constraints.

The implication of the last line is that at least one of them is dying…

Didn’t see any evidence of unnatural healing abilities when they were back in Endtown.

is it that the mutants are extra robust, or that the topsiders are just extra sickly?

Well, we know that to create an anthro you have to be infected and mutate while asleep or unconscious.

Perhaps the Topsiders have a terminal illness and think this is a way to keep living?
