Yup, looks like they’re driving into a field of corn or something. “If you build it, he will come.” I guess that driving through the wall of a barn is not a good way to avoid attracting attention. I’m also kind of wondering if they’ll get stuck in the mud, but maybe if the field is sufficiently frozen they’ll make it out the other side.
Silver come on. You just busted through the side of a barn and you’re worried about running down a scarecrow? I think the evil Sprocket was gunning for it! She’s still mad her shower was interrupted.
The bickering between Silver and Sprocket is interesting; is there a split in the offing?I didn’t expect the patrol car to be Sam and Tracy; but since it is, I’m sure their pursuit of the Nitrates will be relentless, eventually precipitating a climactic event….
Wow, I sure wish when we get a “Fierce Snowstorm” in my neck of the woods it would all mysteriously disappear from the ground like it does in Tracyville! ”Oh my aching back”! LOL!!!
Ye Gods! If only Mr. Scarecrow had a brain he could have hustled up out of the way. The wonder car is on the move, but I suspect Tracy and Sam will keep all four wheels on the road (or corn field) this time.
I don’t know if Mike & Joe intended the humor, but it is certainly prevalent. Good to see that SDM makes an interesting point that the snow has somehow disappeared.
I was wondering whether Sprocket had time to get dressed after cutting short her shower, but if you look closely it seems she did. Also, it occurs to me there is a BIG age gap between these two siblings. Not impossible of course.
After reading this strip for the third time, I noticed that Sam says “THOUGH the back of that barn” instead of THROUGH. This is the first typo I’ve seen in Dick Tracy, ever!
Of course, you are completely permitted to disagree with me, anytime. When you look at the panel in black and white, the way the artist drew it, it’s ambiguous whether it’s dirt or snow. In black and white it looks more to me like it’s white snow in the foreground, and the black in the background could be either bare ground or a shadow. I’m sure you realize that the colour is added by someone at gocomics who has no more idea of what the artist intended than we do — probably less, because he or she doesn’t likely read all these comments.
As to whether there is any other brown material on the ground near the barn, that’s open to speculation, but I kind of doubt that it would cover the whole ground. In any case, S and S are in deep ____ now or will be soon.

I think Sprocket is more of a “Thelma and Louise” fan.

Add the charge “Destruction of Property” to their rap sheet!

Well, now- are they driving into a field? No amount of trick gadgets is likely to help them out if they sink up to the axels in mud!

The snow is still falling. The fact that there’s none visible on the ground is probably the fault of the colorist more than anything else.
