Chasing history? At a high school game? Of course, Iâve seen high school athletes quoted as saying âWe shocked the worldâ and âNobody gave us a chance,â so I guess this makes as much sense. Quite a contrast with softball, where no-hitters and even perfect games are a dime a dozen.
Routine grounder to Lucky, error. Next batter cranks it out of yard down left field line, which is only 210 feet, tie game. Next batter grounder to Lucky, throws it down right fielf line. Ball rolls to fence, which is 425 feet, and batter rounds the bases. After game, Lucky gets dumped by girlfriend, whose sudden success in softball has changed her outlook in life. Lucky decides to visit Chinese restaurant that night, looking for comfort, and possibly a new girlfriend.
I have been following this strip since whatâs his face was going to âlower the boomâ on the teachers. This has to be the most boring storyline of them all.
Think positive guys. Goshen player tries breaking up the perfect game by bunting (bush league) and Lucky makes a great bare-handed play to save the game. If he makes an error its still on the pitcher to save the no-hitter.
Interesting that the catcher uses a polishing glove instead of a mitt. No wonder he wants to get of thereâhe late for his job at the carwash (breaks into song).
In all reality, Lucky will make a bang bang play just throwing out the batter for the final out. After celebrating at the Bucket, he and Mr Reality will bee hit by a car.
Originally I thought it was obvious Lucky would ruin the perfect game, but now I think it can go either way. I created a survey poll that I also posted on the MUT site. Make your prediction as to what happens tomorrow, or Saturday as they may make the final play a cliffhanger tomorrow. Survey is available here.
Marty: Milford 2, Goshen 0, (hic). Paul Dillon (hic), is chasing (hic), history. Time is called on the field (hic), so Iâll chase this sippy cup with an ice cold Bud. Mudlarks (hic, hic), this Budâs for you! (hic, hic).

The kid in panel 3 cheers the same way at the basketball games. Mark this panel down because Iâm sure weâll see it again!

Is it me, or does Paul look like heâs morphing into a teenage version of Gil?

Three people in the stands. The biggest crowd of the season. If this kid finishes the perfect game, six people will claim to have been there.

Where is âSign Manâ? The one in the strip and the one that posts here.

Read âHERMANâ today. Ties in with a long running joke about this strip.

Lucky makes a great play but the ump, John Joyce, blows the call

No way Lucky blows this. Thatâs just what they want you to think. Mopman, what are the survey results?

Is it wise to have Marty in front of an open window? Maybe in MUT Andy Capp can help with the colorful commentary.

In all reality, what would Ronnie Woo say ?
