Quill has served his purpose in the strip, in that Luann (whose defining characteristic has been her obsession with boys) has now shown herself capable of sustaining a long-term relationship. Now it’s time for the 2 of them to move on (and apart), and Quill can vanish into the scenery of Mrs. Manezone’s drama department at Moony Uni while Luann finds new relationships at Pitt CC. I for one shall not miss him. Good-bye Quill, and say hello to Aaron Hill for us when you go spend the rest of your life appearing in dinner theater in Hawaii.

Luann has to learn to enjoy the precious moments, and respect the responsibilities of others, and to seek new responsibilities besides her library work, not everything is about “you have to revolve around me”

So, they didn’t do ANYTHING at the prom that made it “amazing”, which was the next to last word out of Luann’s mouth back on the 3rd of this month, before the Fo-getty arc?(Jeebus Cripes in a crumb cake, this girl’s hard to please.)

The “Amazing” balloon has had all of the air taken out of it…instead of being fresh and aromatic, it is now stale and stinks… ;)

My wife was enamored with that melody when she first heard it. I just watched the video of it, the other day!

It’s one of the few reasons to ever listen to top 40.. I literally tried when I was waiting to find that song on the air. I’m still having nightmares…..

Y’know, it’s funny… in September, at the “Around the World Dance”, he was sleepy as all get up , plus he was super busy as soon as his feet touched the U.S. ground, and she still managed to accept it all and be content! And now , for the moment of seeing one strip, quite a contrast…..

Not enough " Luann time." Just wait til she starts at the CC. Meh, then it will be back to the “poor me” time.

Luann is definitely immature and self-centered, like many others. In time she will be ready for a serious relationship, but that’s not happening now. Luann is in love with ‘being in love’, infatuated but not heart-deep. Very common. True love would be Luann totally supporting him, not thinking what is good just for her.

Whoa! The torrid romance (at least, so Luann had hoped) has suddenly gone tepid. And it’s Luann who is on the verge of deep-sixing it. Not a surprise, really. She had her fantasy; reality couldn’t match it; so, she takes her frustration out on reality. Quill will move on easily enough in college. Luann? She still has a lot of maturing to do….

I’m sensing a breakup! Luann you are such a ungrateful little brat just like Shannon! The man came all the way from Australia to be with you and this is how your act? Typical woman!

I have found that I like the character of Quill much better than I do Luann who is quite self centered and seems to only think of herself.

It just occurred to me that Luann is becoming Tiff.

He’s gorgeous, you’re so so….what’s with the attitude girl. Get over it and love the fact that he loves you and is ambitious about a career. Think long term because it’s your future too!

Greg (and perhaps Karen), of course, like to throw us curve balls, so I’ll wait until week’s end before deciding whether or not it’s truly “over.” But it sure ain’t lookin’ good for the Q man at this point. Weird, because I thought Karen had fought to bring Quill back into the series. Why’d she do that only to dump him so shortly thereafter? If Lu and Q are ending the personal relationship, I get the feelin that Q may still be around as a “Tiffanyesque” foil for Lu. Also, I wonder what this may do to her later potential with Gunther (assuming things with Rosa don’t work out in the end).

That’s right, Luann. Quill flew 7,000 (give or take) miles JUST to play tonsil hockey with you. Who’d be pregnant by now if they’d stuck to YOUR plan?

Going to be tough Rosa is pregnant with Gunths baby. Has to be one unplanned pregnancy per prom and they’re the only ones who liked each other well enough at the end of the evening.

Luann has in some ways bought into the idea of getting married shortly after school. It isn’t as common as it was back in say the 50s. But it still happens.

He seems pretty disconnected & uninterested to me.

I don’t think Luann so much wants to get married as she just wants to be the focus of her boyfriend’s life. Since her primary interest throughout high school has been boys, she has trouble accepting that her boyfriend may have some part of his own life that doesn’t center on her.

Once Luann enrolls at Pitt CC, how long do you think it will take her to forget about Quill and fall for a guy she meets there? My money’s on “15 minutes into her first class”.

I see another step forward in the learning curve of life coming!

I wholehartedly agree with Luann about the last five months. Prom Night is an outstanding example. How can this change when, in a few months, they will be attending different colleges?

It surprises me that some readers of this comic strip think Luann has grown into another Tiffany. Every episode, which shows them interacting with the children at their job, shows how shallow Tiff is and how responsible Luann is.

I wonder if Tiffany will have any interest in Q after Luann dumps him. T usually only wants something when someone else has it. Luann should get a life of her own and not wait around for a man to fill her life.

Isn’t Gunther going to Moony Uni?

It’s where he’s “supposed to be” going. But Rosa may cause a change of plan…

Tiffany and Quill will likely be acting together in drama productions at Moony Uni. However, Quill has never shown any interest in Tiffany (remember, Quill cares only about “inner beauty”, which Luann is supposed to have plenty of – as we see today??), and Tiffany has written Quill off as a suitor since he told her at camp last summer that he didn’t want a relationship with her. Perhaps Tiffany will find a boyfriend at Moony. After all, throughout high school she’s never had one, has she?

Whoa, icy. Wonder if she got a call from Aaron or something.OK, maybe Quill could have given her a quick call to say he’d be late. But he did apologize and people do get hung up at work. Luanne should be glad she has a boyfriend who is responsible and puts Tiffany in her place when she flirts with him. But she must not have yet grown out of her high-maintenance phase yet. Apparently relationships are to have only ups and no downs.

Why is everybody saying that Quill’s too good for Luann physically? She’s blonde and has a nice body. If she just put on some make-up and changed her attitude a bit, I’d have gone for her big time!

Luann is a good girl that really needs to get over herself.

When Luann grows up (maybe another 20-years of real time), she’ll realize that a responsible, employed man who cares of her is better than her fantasy.

I don’t know what people are hating on Quill for, he’s easily the most mature, wise-beyond-his-years, character in the strip since Zane . Not ruled by hormones or pettiness. He’s been loyal to Luann (unlike the oft-mentioned Aaron Hill ), has put up with her needy drama queen moments, and shut down Tiffany’s game playing. He apparently gave Gunther some good advice (although we didn’t see it, but the result was Rosa paying more attention).That Evans doesn’t seem to be able to write for a character that isn’t flawed in some way and not seem boring says something about him. Maybe Karen can help get that worked out.

A propos of absolutely nothing, before I got up this morning and my mind was still partly in la-la land, I realized that it’s been ages since we’ve heard from Elwood. Anyone notice him leave?

I can’t believe how immature Luann is being! Committed couples sacrifice in the interest of the other’s career aspirations. At least Quill has a professional ambition, but Luann would rather Quill spend all his time with her goofing off…My prediction is that they will break up, then Quill will go on to be a huge movie star.

According to the Facebook page for Luann, it seems that the subject of all of our discussion (of whether this is an indication of “clouds before a storm”) is what is being hinted at…

My guy is very busy too with drama club as well as in the others. I plan to join the ones in which we share interests, so we have more to talk about.

We already share his Sunday morning puzzles on NPR. Last week I got the answer during breakfast; this week I thought of it a few hours after returning home.

If you find a “keeper” you have to keep busy to have their interest.

Memorial Day: Honor the fallen. Remember that war isn’t always the answer. WW II was absolutely necessary to protect America. Korean War? Most likely that one as well. Vietnam and Afghanistan? I still don’t believe our freedoms here were at all threatened so as to engage in those wars. One war only sets the stage for the next one.

No man would want to hurry to get this kind of reception from his “girlfriend”. No wonder Quill isn’t eager to spend time with this grumpy female.

This is like a soap opera. Suddenly something is wrong after seeming so right for the last five months. Okay, so send him straight to Tiffany’s arms. Bring back Aaron Hill, give him some personality and give him to Luann.

I think Luann’s complaint is that the physical part of the relationship hasn’t passed first base.

Luann sometimes acts very mature and sometimes like a child. In other words, she’s a normal teenager!

So am I supposed to care about Luann’s feelings here, because she’s coming off as a whiny, clingy unlikable C—-. Come to think of it, every interesting story Greg ever writes has nothing to do with her.
